League Rules

THIS LEAGUE WILL END AFTER THE 2024 SEASON

Schedule
-162-game regular season; user sims every 6 hours.
-Amateur Draft during "June"
-All star break (day 100) granted 3 days rest
-Trade Deadline (Day 135)
-Playoffs - Homefield Advantage based on record
-World Series
-Retirements
-Progressions
-Free Agency

Tie Breakers
-One game playoff
-Home team is team with better head to head record
-If teams have tie head to head, then run differential
-If run differential tied, then team with more runs scored

Budget
-Each team has a $300 salary cap.

Team Management
-Every team will have a 46-man roster 26 majors 25 minors
-If a team is over on players on opening day they will be given a couple days to correct. If it's not taken care of the Commish office will correct it however I see fit.
-5 man pitching rotation
-Prior to the first season let me know if the stadium and its effects need adjusting for accuracy. You may update your stadium prior to the season in which they moved into a new park.
-Position changes will be granted on a case-by-case basis & must make sense. Swapping primary and secondary positions can be done with no change to defensive stats. Position changes can only happen during the off-season. New primary position cannot be IF or UT. You may change a player's position before the start of a year if they changed positions in real life in that year without choosing that year's real statistics. Example: in 2003, Craig Biggio changed from 2b to CF in real life. The Astros may change Biggio from 2b to CF before the 2003 league season without switching to his real 2003 stats.

Free Agency
-Two rounds of free agency with bids. In the beginning of the season adds will be by waiver through league day 25. After that it's free for all.
-10 year max contracts, no raises, with extensions (see below).
-40 players max under contract
-Players with total bids within 10% in round 1 will move on to round 2. The formula for determining the difference shall be, (for example determining the difference between bids of $180 and $200):
(180 - 200)/
(180 + 200) ÷ 2 × 100

This example would be a difference of 10.526%, rounded up to 11% and therefore not eligible to move on to round 2.

Contract Buy-Outs
-Teams may "buy out" remaining years of as many contracts as they want. Teams will pay 1/2 of the total contract value when the player is cut. The total value can be paid out over as many years (1-10) as the owner wants, but must be the same amount every year. The buy-out will happen when the new league year starts, saving teams the value of one year. The player will fall into the free agent pool and be available during normal free agency.

Contract Extensions
-Owners may extend contracts at will. This can be done in the final season of a player's contract by using the "Sign Player" option on their player card. No action by the Commish is necessary.

Trades
-Trades are unlimited until the deadline - day 135
-Picks can be traded up to 2 years in advance
-I do not envision a trade committee unless it gets out of hand

Progression
-Players progress till 28 and decline at 32
-Players retire at age 40 if not signed to contract

Draft & Imports
-You will be given plenty of notice before the live draft
-Real-life rookies will be imported to teams before the start of the season
-Players must have 35 IP or 125 AB to be eligible for import.
-One-round draft of fictional rookies each season.
-Fictional players will be young and low-ranked but with random progressions.
-If a fictional player is created based on a real player, that fictional player cannot change real stats year based on the underlying real player.

Prospect Tags
-You may tag players by sending me a message. These players will remain on your roster through their age 25 season (tag will be removed during their age-25 season), or have 150 at-bats or 50 innings, whichever comes first.
-Draft will be 1 round

Real Stats Year
-You may choose to change a player's real stats to that season's statistics. For instance, before beginning the 1991 season, you may choose to change a player's real stats to his 1991 stats, or you can leave them as-is. You can do this for as many players as you want and you do not have to change the stats if you don't want to. Progressions will take place on whichever real stats the player has when progressions are run. Players must have either 35 innings pitched for a reliever, 100 innings for a starter, or 200 at-bats in the season to which you want to switch.

Aging Players
-Players will automatically be retired at age 46 unless they actually played that year, like Julio Franco.

Tanking or Violating rules
-Please no tanking. Do not put good players in the minors unless they are injured. You may of course keep prospects in the minors until you are ready to sign them.

Awards
-Cy Young
-MVP
-Rookie of the Year
-Gold Glove
-Silver Slugger

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
