I got to go back and see game 4 of finals in Indy. although that was a heart wrenching loss, was great to witness the atmosphere. not that i am old, but i also saw game 4 of the ABA Finals vs Kentucky in 1975. Pacers won that game , but lost the series 4-1. every 50 years i see Pacers in finals.

What I'd like to know is why the Thunders chip isn't considered their 2nd ? . They were not an expansion team , they moved from Seattle and took the banner with them.. To me its the same as The Utah NHL team , they just moved from Arizona. If you are talking about the current Cle Browns , that was an expansion team , the Ravens moved from the original franchise. Semantics I guess.

This site considers them 2 different franchises which I've never understood. It's too bad because that would be a great franchise to win with.

Yes . I know but how come this site considers OKC/SEA 2 diff franchises ? It considers BUFF/LAC , KC/SAC the same ?

Because the Sonics franchise bought the rights to the prior Sonics records, which makes OKC a different franchise. I don't think anything analogous happened in the other two cases.

@dalbpho8 , Matt owns restaurants on sanibel island and fort myers. he became friends with the pacers owner in the 90's. he used to come in to the restaurant frequently. he has been a big fan for the 30 years or so that i have known him, super nice guy.

Then why did they give up their banner , you can't have it both ways. Basketball ref considers them the same franchise is what I'm trying to convey. Anyway , speaking of superfans , does anyone here remember rockin rollin , the guy with the red , white and blue afro who went to every televised game and had the john 3:16 sign ? The Sonics *will* get back their history once a team is brought back to Seattle. Since I was expecting Seattle to eventually get back its history, I kept them separate.
