Manager Traits
Manager Traits
Guy, the choices for Manager traits, while absolutely meaningless because they are for entertainment purposes only are frankly WOKE
Supportive, Respective, Progressive, Worried, Empathetic??
Your site, but how about Loyal, Determined, Conservative, Confident?
Are these values unimportant? you can't say no politics and limit choices toward agendas
Love the site, will probably regret the post tomorrow, but as a man of my word I joined an ATG Auto League tonight and was setting my Park Dimensions and Manager was an option, - why do I have to choose from a predetermined list?

Re: Manager Traits
I think you're reading a little too deep into this. It's an option that was graciously added by Guy, and it's been noted that it's still in development. No one's made this about politics. Even so, how are traits that make up a good human considered "woke." Someone who's empathetic and can respond to someones emotions effectively is a bad trait? Someone who's respectful of others is a bad trait? Someone who's supportive and wants the best for their players is a bad trait?
Also, conservative is an option. As for your other requests, optimistic and enthusiastic are synonyms for confident, ambitious and passionate are synonyms for determined, and while loyal may not be an option, someone who's supportive is often a trait of someone who's loyal, as it means they'll put a lot in for the team.
It's just a fun option that helps determine the types of responses the AI generator spits out for you on the manager comments page.

Re: Re: Manager Traits
Look, I can't understand how Managerial trait is " Progressive" I can understand Conservative, instead of Stealing a Base, you bunt the man over, or pull the infield in, Pitch around Aaron Judge, play smart
What does a Progressive Manager do?

Re: Manager Traits
The same thing a Conservative manager would do. You know, since they’re “absolutely meaningless because they are for entertainment purposes only”

Re: Re: Manager Traits
I would say progressive would be forward-thinking, maybe "thinking outside the box". The funny thing is that, in Canada, our right-leaning political party is actually called the "Progressive Conservative Party of Canada", so I'm pretty sure they're not antonyms. I guess some conservative-minded people think that the word "progressive" is just fine. Take it easy, Sin. Nobody is out to get you.

Re: Manager Traits
I would say a progressive manager would take a more analytical approach to baseball opposed to a conservative manager. An analytical manager might look for players based on where they hit the ball on the field, launch angle, exit velo, or for pitchers things like spin rate. They might focus on the statistics of individual players. While a conservative manager would likely look at what's been done and has been successful, and is more likely to play it safe. A progressive manager might be more likely to break the so called rules of baseball. A conservative manager might not play the shift as much because they may say, "If a guy ropes it down the left field line and no one's there, it could turn a single into a double or more," while a progressive manager may say, "this batter hits the ball to the right side of the field 90% of the time. Putting more guys there will outweigh the expected outcome of leaving 3rd open." Or they may do something like bunt with 2 outs. Sure, you're not supposed to bunt with 2 outs, but what if there's a scenario where it just makes more sense to. Maybe the defense is playing back, or your hitter strikes out a ton, or is just really bad, so may as well put the ball in play and make the defense have to do something. They'll play more like Dan Campbell in the NFL. You shouldn't ever go for 4th in this scenario or that scenario, but he does. And it works. And he wins.

Re: Manager Traits
One of the traits that SCM identified as "woke" was Respective, which doesn't exist on the list. What would a "respective" manager do? Make sure that everyone played their respective positions, none of that double-switch stuff?

Re: Re: Manager Traits
To label everyone of a certain ideology 'woke' is as lame, lazy and irresponsible as so-called 'wokers' branding all MAGA supporters as kneejerk reactionaries who can't think for themselves and can do no better than repeat what they hear from overpaid media agitators who laugh all the way to the bank at how easy it is to string along folks who'll believe anything that allows them to wallow in their baser instincts.
Yes, please, wrap up this thread. Anyone who's been here for any amount of time knows that this is supposed to be a safe haven and refuge from political rabble-rousing of any persuasion. There are plenty of other outlets out there where one can take to the soapbox all they want.
