MLB CLASSIC REWIND: 1973 RULES

TEAMS: 24 teams of Major League Baseball 1973. In this universe there will be no expansion. The main reason being is I've noticed in many real progression leagues I've participated in struggle with player shortages due to short sighted trades. Starting in 1977 this will help allow for some extra players.

PLAYERS: League will begin with initial rosters of selected teams. Player is yours until they retire, or you trade or drop them. If a player should fall under AB/ IP threshold they will be placed on holding team and returned to your team when they are eligible. After supplemental draft each season I'll assign one UT player for each team to have coverage in a pinch.

RETURNING PLAYERS: If a player should fall under AB/IP threshold, he will be placed on a holding team and then returned to your team the next season he meets qualifications, even if the team he returns with is different. Keep in mind that PC is not equipped to track this, so I would advise each owner to track those players on team notepad just in case the Commissioner happens to overlook a player. It would be wise to use the player at least once to put your teams name on his player card, but this is not essential to having the player returned to your team.

IMPORTS: Each team will receive rookies each season. Any duplicate Player will be resolved by which team they were a member of first when they achieved AB/IP threshold with first in real life. If they do not meet the AB/IP Threshhold with either team, they will be placed on the first team that they played with. If there is a player who splits his first season with a team that does not exist in Rewind, and achieves the AB/IP threshold, he will go to the team that does exist in this league.

DRAFT: No rookie drafts or contracts. There will be a 3-Round Supplemental Draft to fill back end of rosters. Each off season, all teams MUST cut down to at least 29 players. A team may reduce to 26, if they wish the maximum 3 picks. You will receive 1 to 3 players in draft, depending on how many players you hve on your roster: 28 Players = 1 Pick, 27 Players = 2 Picks, and 26 Players = 3 Picks. Auto pick won't be enabled, so if you forget to pre-rank you'll not receive players in draft. Beginning with the 1977 Season, the Supplemental Draft will include Rookie Expansion Team Players, and will be conducted as a Live Draft as per League Vote.

PROGRESSION: Real Progression will be used.

AB/IP THRESHOLD: 25/10 for 1973. 40/15 from 1974 to the present day.
**NOTE: Strike Years 1981, 1994, 1995 will be pro rated:
1981 Threshold will be 27/10
1994 Threshold will be 30/11
1995 Threshold will be 35/13
2020 Threshold will be 15/6

ROSTERS: 25 majors 6 minors. Active Rosters will be extended to 30 players on September 1st, or roughly Day 148. Rosters will return to 25/5 prior to the post-season.

TRADES: 20 Please remember this is a real progression league. Make sure you properly research trades or you may have difficulty in future seasons. League office reserves the right to reverse trade deemed lopsided. For franchise integrity trades of future imports is not permitted.

TRADE DEADLINE: Day 120

SCHEDULE: Regular season will be 162 games

INJURIES: 10 players 25 pitchers

FATIGUE: On

AWARDS: MVP and Cy Young and Rookie of the year will be chosen by commish. Quite often this choice will be different than PC. In the event a player from my team is in top 3. Award will be chosen by league vote. In this league there are a few awards for less than stellar play. These aren't to make fun of anyone. They are for fun.

ROTATION: 1985 Begins the 5 Man Rotation, but it is still advised to carry a 6th SP, due to doubleheaders in the schedule.

POSITION CHANGES: PC will automatically import player in role they served in current season. However I'll assign each team a UT player each season. Each team will be able to change their primary position on two players each season as long as they actually played that position in the current year. Position changes are only temporary as they will change back to their real position as deemed by PC database.

PITCHER CONVERSION:

SP to RP: In the event that a team is short of Relief Pitchers just prior to the start of the season, and if there are no Free Agent Relief Pitchers available, the commissioner will convert Starting Pitchers, if available and not already in the rotation, into Relief Pitchers. The starting pitcher must be below 1.35 WHIP and his stamina will be cut in half. Owners will only get one SP to RP conversion per season, and as this is a real progression league, the pitcher will return to his normal status the following season. In case of extreme conditions, owners will be able to switch SP to RP up to 4 Relievers. Commissioner will review their team and determine the players able to be switched.

RP to SP: In the event that a team is short of Starting Pitchers just prior to the start of the season, and if there are no Free Agent Starting Pitchers available, the commissioner will convert Relief Pitchers, if available and not already in the rotation, into Starting Pitchers, to bring the total number of Starting Pitchers on the roster to 5. The Commissioner will select the Relief Pitchers with the highest WHIP that are available, and who had at least 1 Start during the regular real season. Stamina for these pitchers will be set at 70.

SIMS: 6 schedule "Days" per day. User sim set to 4 hour timer.

SLUMP BUSTER: 5 Days

ALL STARS: All-Stars will be chosen by CPU. 8 All Star Alternates for each league will be chosen by the Commish or an anonymous owner of the Commissioner's choosing. Alternate All-Stars will be awarded a star on their player card. The All-Star break will be after Day 95. 3 rest days will be granted.

PLAYOFFS: Each division winner plus 2 wildcard teams per league will qualify for playoffs. Division winners will receive top 2 seeds regardless of record. First round series will be best of 5 using 2-2-1 format. LCS and WS best of 7 using 2-3-2 format. 2 days off after season will be granted. One day between series. One day for each travel day. In case of the same record in LCS, head to head from the regular season will determine Home Field Advantage. In the WS, Largest Run Differential in the regular season will determine home field advantage.

WILDCARD TIE: In the case of a tie for the last Wildcard spot, there will be a one-game, sudden death playoff, with the winner advancing to the post-season. There will be NO rest day prior to this game being played. Home field will be awarded to the team that won the most head-to-head match-ups during the regular season. All post-season teams will be given an extra rest day as a result of this game having to be played.

EDIT TEAM DETAILS: On each off season to allow to change stadium dimensions and logo

UNEXPLAINED ABSENCE: Any owner who does not log into the game for more then two weeks, with no explanation given, will be dropped from the league. Simply let the commissioner know beforehand if you will be away for 2 weeks or more, and your team will be held for you.

CONDUCT: No whining. No drama. A little trash talk is fine, though personal attacks on another owner will not be permitted. Please read the rules and be familiar with them. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send the Commish a message. Stay active and have fun.

PLAYER NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS:Here is the criteria for Team and Personal Notable Achievements, all on a "per game" basis:
Player:

3+ Home Runs
No- Hitter
Perfect Game

TANKING

In the case you are losing on purpose or "Tanking", a thorough investigation will be done by the commissioner and a panel of 5 other owners. If a team is starting players with lower rankings for extended periods of time, not utilizing slump buster or leaving better players in the minors than the ones in the majors, then they will be examined very closely. If found, said team will forfeit all Draft Picks the following 3 seasons and the owner will be permanently banned from Rewind. Subsequently, if a new owner takes over the following season, that owner will not lose draft picks but will move to the last pick in each round of the next draft.

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
