League Rules
1) We start with 2019 rosters and have a unpredictable progression. So players get 1 year older as usual each progression. Difference is, we will go back in time. Imports the next seasons will be 2018, 2017, 2016 etc. Players can get younger though, as described in the stat change section below.2) All teams are available except the Dodgers and Yankees. If you take an expansion team, you keep them until their initial MLB season. After that you switch to an unowned original MLB team (not Yanks or Dodgers) from the same league. The team with the worse record the previous season, gets the first choice among the unowned.
3a) Each year you will get all of that team’s imports. Original imports need 50 AB or 25 IP. Under 100 AB/35 IP gets stats doubled. If a player played for more than one team, he goes to the one he played for last (regardless of AB or IP). Future imports, starting season 2, will be set at 100/35.
3b) Teams get to import 5 players from their franchises 2024 roster after teams have been chosen. These players must be unowned on other teams. Stat change to current seasons WILL BE available.
4) Rosters: Major league – 26, plus 12 more in the minors.
5) No contracts
6) Trades: Trades will be unlimited, but you may not trade between your own teams.
7) 5 man rotations , WAR used instead of fire, Sims set to run every 3 hours, fatigue used, injuries 12 max pitchers, 6 hitters
8) Duplicate players cannot co-exist in the league
9) Free agents will be available through the waiver system. Free agents will be players cut from other teams. There is no draft, only imports and free agency from cut players.
10) 162 game schedule. No interleague play until the championship. Top 2 in each league makes the playoffs, then winner moves to the title game. Series are 2-3-2. Tie breakers are head to head, then point differential.
11) POSITION CHANGES:
Pitchers: If you are short of starters, or relievers, you can switch one (or more) to the other to fill a need.
Fielders: Will switch primary and secondary position when the secondary position was played 25% of the players career (by games played) or 35% of the present season.
12) Stat change and progression: There will be unlimited stat change to the current season (must have 100 AB or 35 IP). Players that get stat changed get moved to that age, which is in this leagues case, makes them younger. Progression age is set at 28/32 and uses unpredictable progression.
13) Rule on players that were pitchers and hitters. If you have a player that did both, you may have 1 in hitters and 1 in pitchers. But, they must use the same season, the hitter gets moved to DH with fielding of 0.500, and they take 2 roster spots. Players are still imported according to the above rules- duplicates are not allowed on different teams.
14) New and additional rules will be added when I think of them.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
