Ivan the Not so Terrible

105 games into the season the Cleveland Indians have 33 team home runs. Rick Manning is their team leader with 11. No other player on their roster has more than five. Meanwhile, over in Seattle Ivan Calderon has 34 home runs. His teammate Ken Griffey13 has 30. Edgar Martinez16 and Alvin Davis each have 23. That's 110 home runs between four players. More than three times as many as Cleveland's entire roster.

Calderon is also hitting .313 with 38 doubles, 93 RBI's, and 101 runs scored. The Mariners have scored 580 runs to Cleveland's 379. At 63-42 the M's are running away with the American League while Cleveland sits at 35-70 with no hope in sight. About the only thing Mariner fans can complain about is that the M's haven't yet figured out a way to dispatch of the pesky A's in the playoffs. Perhaps with Oakland, Chicago, and Minnesota battling for the final wild card, they will luck out and the A's won't qualify.

Meanwhile, the only drama in Cleveland as the season nears its end will be to see if they can hit more homers than the mighty Ivan Calderon.
