Here are the steps and deadlines for the pre-2004 off-season (all times MOUNTAIN):

Wednesday, February 4, 11 AM: Deadline to apply rookie tags, sign guys, and request buyouts using existing salary cap space. League year rolls over to 2003 Real-life 2003 rookies imported.

Wednesday, February 4, 12 PM: Round 1 of free agency kicks off

Friday, February 6, 1 PM: Deadline to claim 1 real-life 2003 rookie who played for your team. Ranking for rookie draft begins.

Saturday, February 7, 1 PM: 2-round slow draft kicks off

Monday, February 9, 9 AM: Deadline to submit bids for round 1 of free agency

After rookie draft: deadline to submit bids for round 2 of free agency

After rookie draft: Deadline to request contract buyouts

After rookie draft: Opening Day 2003!

After rookie draft: Deadline to request position changes

2003 Post-Season Schedule

All times mountain;

Monday, February 2, 10AM: AL Central Tie-breaker. No day off beforehand:

White Sox @ Royals (KC wins head-to-head, 11-8)

Monday, February 2, 4 PM: League Division Series played. Best of 5 in 2-2-1 format. One day off beforehand except for tie-breaker teams, and after games 2 and 4. Games played every 15 minutes

KC/Chi @ KC/Chi (winner of the tiebreaker is the #1 seed)
Orioles @ Angels
Brewers @ Pirates
Marlins @ Diamondbacks

Tuesday, February 3, 10 AM: League Championship series played. Best of 7 in 2-3-2 format. One day off beforehand and after games 2 and 5. Games played every 15 minutes.
