player inprovements

player inprovements

Im fairly new to the website and took over a franchise in the middle of their season. How do young players improve? Is it simply playing time?

Re: player inprovements

if its a real progression league
then the players will go by their real season stats each year...
if its a classic progression league ( players have a (C) under progressions
then they will improve x amount each season

Re: Re: player inprovements

Thanks for the info...so all players progress at the same rate?
I have an old Braves team and just got Dale Murphy as a rookie.

Re: player inprovements

Im pretty new here too, and about to start my own league. I've been doing a lot of homework on things like this.

As far as leagues that use simulated progression of players (not those importing the next years historical stat lines), there are different ways to sim progression. As a commissioner you can advance everyone at the same rate, at random, or based on the players' "P" stat score. Those scores range, from Flat to All-Star (descriptions here: https://www.pennantchase.com/Player.. )

**Worth noting that I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that players need 100 at-bats or 25 innings pitched in order to progress. Maybe that's something a PC site veteran can confirm, or say what happens if they don't meet the criteria.

Re: Re: player inprovements

Lower limit for AB is 100 and the lower limit for IP is 20.

I think that page is accurate in briefly describing how each of the different progressions work. The amount a player progresses is random though.

For example, if you were to have two A progression players with similar AB then they may progress differently but in the same categories mentioned in the link in the previous post. I have linked these two players to illustrate this.

We see that although these are two A players, they still progressed differently (one twice as much as the other)

Another thing to keep in mind is that lower AB and IP will cause a player to progress faster as any real stat increase will have a bigger effect.

Re: player inprovements

That's great info

Just to clarify, a player does need to meet that minimum number of at-bats or innings to have any changes made to his stat line by progression?

Wow, as a rookie Murphy was a catcher.
