Shot Share Problem

Shot Share Problem

I have recently been noticing a problem with two of my players shot share in
one of my leagues. John Stockton and Otis Thorpe both have a 21 percent shot share and Stockton plays about a minute more, While Stockton shoots 17.4 shots a game and Thorpe only shoots 6.8. Does anyone know why this is and/or anyway to fix it?

Here's the league link: https://www.pennantchase.com/lgTeam..

Re: Shot Share Problem

point guard will likely get more shots per game in that scenario...at least from what i see.

Re: Re: Shot Share Problem

Do you have Stockton with a +6% on shot share?

Re: Shot Share Problem

I have them both on +4 percent.

Re: Re: Shot Share Problem

Dalpho I agree, but not ten more shots per game.

Re: Shot Share Problem

Could Thorpe be getting DT a lot? Seems like that in a league where I have Shaq. I have him at +6but he never scores like he does in real life…

Re: Re: Shot Share Problem

This IS an extreme example of what I'm seeing in basketball leagues--shot attempts are almost always driven by PG, SG, and SF. I think the difficulty with getting shot attempts by PF and Centers is that they are usually facing FAR better defenders? That's been my guess, certainly.

When someone figures out basketball please let me know.
Nothing I ever try works , whether it be shot share , uptempo or slow down, trying to bring scoring off the bench and not have too many scorers on the floor at once, double teaming occasionally the dominant scorer .
It's all in vain for me

Plenty of people have figured out basketball.

This is an interesting issue I will look into. Since in this case all players except the center are over 20 percent shot share the PF does seem to be getting the shaft.

The game is too inconsistent

It’s not though. Plenty of people seem to be able to win over and over. You do need role players and not just scorers that is for sure.

Re: Shot Share Problem

I've found that creating spreadsheets of the players and getting some advanced metrics helps me better understand who's going to be efficient with the shots they get and who's an above-replacement-level defender for their position.

And having it be too predictable would make it a worse game. I like trying to figure out winning strategies.

If it takes spreadsheets and advanced metrics to win consistently at basketball that DEFINITELY means there is a problem with this game.
Strategy is one thing but if it's where certain players perform better than other equal players every time for no apparent reason, then that becomes a problem

I would change this thread to shot share awesomeness :P Cause Stockton is shooting really really well, and better than Thorpe. (who seems to be shooting well too)

You can change the percentages to Stockton +2 and Thorpe +6 if you want to increase Thorpe's shots. Maybe it will fall in line with the split you want

I just wanna thank everyone for all the responses. Didn't really expect this many replies in so little time, but I'm learning how great of a community PC really is!
