slump buster question
slump buster question
I've been curious about how to figure the effects of slump buster on a player. It's supposed to give a 20% boost. So for hitters does that mean I figure 20% of Hits + Walks, add that to the original Hits + Walks, and then divide by original ABs?
Re: slump buster question
It has never actually been defined, however, I always thought you simply add 20% to AVG, OBP and OPS - so if you REAL AVG -Not Compiled is .300 and you enter slump buster, you should perform as if your AVG was .360 - it multiplies REAL, not Compiled Stats
But I am not positive
But I am not positive
Re: Re: slump buster question
I think that’s right.
So let’s say your real stats are .300 AVG (180 hits in 600 AB)
Slump bust boosts that .300 X 1.2=0.360
OR
180 X 1.2=216 hits
216/600=0.360
So, either method works

Re: Re: slump buster question
is it best to leave a guy on slump buster for the entire 30 days or is it better to "spread the wealth" with other players if you have multiple players needing a boost? i generally take them off after a few games if they start hitting or pitching better but always wondered if a longer stay is more beneficial
Re: slump buster question
I like to have my best eligible player on Slumpbuster. So for the most part once they are on it I keep them on it until either someone better is eligible or the 30 days is up.
Re: Re: slump buster question
I leave mine on also as long as they are performing. Sometimes, slump buster appears to have no effect, I guess a guy can just have a bad season and if that's the case I might move it to someone else. The ideal scenario with slump buster is your best hitter, say Ruth in an ATG starts slow and you can slump bust him. That's almost a guaranteed MVP.
Re: slump buster question
@wduncan , i have definitely seen a guy go nuts while on it!! just wasn't sure if it was a good idea to try and get another guy going once player A gets rolling
Re: Re: slump buster question
It just increases their stats while they’re on it. It doesn’t really get a guy rolling like in real life when a player gets out of a funk. Once you take him off he just goes back to his original stats. It’s all a numbers game - just gives a player better odds while he’s on it. So it’s just a matter of deciding which player you want to have better odds of performing well. No long-term after effects or psychological advantage.
