New baseball team owner today
New baseball team owner today
Trying to understand stats by year in a historical league (1940-1969). If I draft a player who hit 32 HR, can I expect him to approximate that number ? Or will he approximate the number he hit in the season succeeding the season in which he hit 32 HR's? I understand that the preponderance of power pitchers will degrade hitting stats significantly. Thanks.
Want to know if I should avoid players who may have played very little due to injury or military service in a "succeeding year".
I hope that makes sense.

His stats will be based off the season selected -or assigned at the start of the season, so a - sample guy,
400 AB 300 AVG 16) 2B, 1) 3B, 7) HR his AB's will be processed at those statistical averages, plus some unknown SIM affect, plus - the field dimensions, quality of pitchers and defenders faced, Slump Buster, Fire, BUT- Still figure those stats and a win some lose some on guys attitude, and good luck, and that's what makes the site great.

The stats are rate-based, so there's no need to avoid someone who missed time due to injury or military service. Stated differently, HR/PA would be the relevant metric in the example you cited, as opposed to the absolute number of HR. This is why partial-season phenoms like Matt Olsen have hit on the order of 100 HR in certain leagues.
