Re: Becoming a commissioner

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Hmm, this typically doesn't end well...

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Yes - that is what happened, and now after learning from my mistake, I'd like to take another shot at being a commish but with my friend dandychiggins to keep me in check and for me to keep him in check and try to make a honest, fun league.

Hope all you guys understand and will trust me after I apologized on the boards and now trying to keep myself in check :)

love pc and everything about it and Ive learned from my mistake

Re: Becoming a commissioner

I understand your point of view, and I respect that, but i guarantee that me and dandychiggins will be trying our hardest - everyone has to start out at some point, and i hope that everyone can understand that :)

Re: Becoming a commissioner

wth?

uh dempsey? i and others in this league support babyyoda's elevation to commissioner based on his active participation and engagement; also, (checks notes)...

you are not even in this league, so remind me again why you are weighing in??

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Look dempsey - I understand your criticism. I made some really really bad mistakes my first time as a commish. But let me reiterate, once again, that I've learned from those mistakes and guarantee that I will be a fair commish, and even have another commish to help keep me in check.

And since there still seems to be doubt in some of your minds about my honesty, if you'd like, feel free to keep an eye on my team and my league once the season starts, because, to be honest, being commish is fun - but now i've realized, after my mistakes, only fun when I'm not cheating.

Please understand that I've changed and now only want to have a fun and competitive league.

If you can't understand that at this point, then please just ignore me and anything I say from now on because you don't believe in second chance and that people can change.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

they are actually still part of the league - they just don't have a team

example: ulster did not have a team after i deleted his team, but he was still part of the league, and now he is the Atlanta Braves

and I'll reiterate one more time that me and dandychiggins will be trying our hardest in this league - we are open to advice and comments on the league as well if there's something we can do better.

i'm trying my hardest, and although i might not seem too smart, I have the work ethic and the brain to run a league well - although I am just 14 years old, i've already taken my SAT (at 12, might i mention) and got a 1340 to qualify for a summer program called CTY for smart kids like me.

i understand that there will still be people that are going to criticize me, there are still going to be the haters, but that's gonna come with the job.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Feel free to believe what you like.

I'm going to exit this conversation now, because I see no reason anymore to argue, this is a waste of my time that I could spend making my league better.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Dempsey is a professional naysayer. He wanted to cancel the MLB season, too.

Go for it, Yoda. There's a quit button for anyone who joins and doesn't like how the league is going.

There has been a self-evaluation, an apology, and a promise to be fair. That's all anyone can do when starting a league.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

A little confused here, so someone please correct me if this assumption is wrong:

Couldn't you just set up your sandbox as a regular league and then invite people to join? I know wins don't count, so that might be a stickler for some people, but we're all just here to have fun, right? It would solve the issue of finding an empty league.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

The reality is, this rarely turns out well. Maybe BabyYoda will be different. I have not banned him from Commish tools because so far he only has one strike, although that was such a bad one, I was tempted.

Someone has now decided to pass him a league. People can choose to roll the dice with his league as they choose. You don't have to join if you don't want to, but I also think it's appropriate to warn other users. For BabyYoda's sake, this one has to go okay, otherwise there is grave risk of a ban.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Is Babyyoda aware that the League will expire one year from it's inception?

Something for him to keep in mind, once it expires, he will have to pay to keep it going.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Dempsey, we did not give babyyoda comish, we gave dannychiggins. I understand where you’re coming from, but I feel we are giving them a chance to redeem themselves in a good manor. If he fails again, it will be to his dismay. The global message boards will come at him with no mercy and he will most likely never be allowed in a league. If he succeeds, however, he will be looked upon as a good guy who learned from his mistake. He’s been so friendly and I believe both of them will be fine.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

I think Dempsey might have the Covid.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Dempsey,

If you reference a league that you find repugnant, put a link in your post so the rest of us can see this catastrophe you are intent on putting in chat.

If you are really concerned with doing a service to the PC community by sounding a (weak) alarm, then have the class to tell us which way the fire is coming from so we can see and analyze for ourselves. Yelling fire in a semi-crowded chat room just because you are smelling burnt toast is not helping anyone.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Yoda/DandyChiggins,

I looked through the league out of curiosity and have a little bit of feedback if you're interested.
1) It's really tough to recruit 30 active owners - so I'd either start with a smaller league or expect tons of turnover and be prepared to know how to handle that (the turnover). Those 30 team leagues typically end up with 8 teams that are really playing and then a ton of bad teams with very few players. Nobody wants to join existing leagues and take over terrible teams.
2) Get feedback on your rules. It looks like you made a first pass at the rules but there's a lot that doesn't make sense or is vague. Is there an initial draft? How will the order be determined? Can those players be signed? Are you using rank for salaries? When I read stuff like this it's usually a red flag
"When they turn 35, there is a tiny chance that they retire."
What is tiny chance? It's not a good idea to have rules that seem to be up to the commissioner to decide. Just say player retire at age X
Get people to read over the rules and ask questions - it's better to iron them out before anyone joins - I'm happy to help just send me a message if you're interested.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

thanks for the feedback!

last time I tried to start a league, got 26 active owners, and I'm friendly with a decent chunk of owners who could spread the word, so I think we'll be alright :)

as for the rules, I'll take a deeper dive, working with your advice.

thanks again!

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

krtyler, a fantastic Commish, is right.

Trying to field a 30-team league is a bad idea for a new PC'er. and inexperienced Commish. Referencing your last league as proof of what you can do is like Billy Buckner talking up his fielding by pointing to Game 6.

Hearing advice from an excellent Commish is nice, taking it is smart.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

my first ( and most sucessful league) had 12 teams to start

Re: Becoming a commissioner

I disagree. My first league was in March, owners knew that. I filled all 30 teams within a couple of days!

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

but then how many left when you were accused of cheating

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

yeah

Re: Becoming a commissioner

He was not cheating. jwbsavages is a proven cheater, but we can forget about that if he will be quiet right now. Gordo didn't know what he was doing, and made a bad trade. People got so mad and eventually gbacci got involved but he was proven to not have cheated. That was in the past, and nobody really cared anyway. Different league anyway. He's one of the best commissioners and has gotten 2 leagues up and running. One of which is my favorite league of them all. Hmm... jwbsavages was proven to be a little kid who cheated, so you should be quiet and watch your untrue words.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Jwbsavages you realllllly have no room to talk about other people cheating. Especially considering your own history. Just saying.........

Re: Becoming a commissioner

jwbsavages’ league was not even capable to be saved when he handed it over to me. There were so many things wrong that I had to scrap the whole league! Completely ruined X-factor

Re: Becoming a commissioner

I am starting to think that in addition to no political threads, there should be no jwbsavages or babyyoda threads...seems to produce equal levels of passion and disdain

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Unfortunately, this gets worse...

DANDYCHIGGINS20 had a second account (which is now deleted) which he used to cheat in another league.

I will be contemplating how to proceed here, this is bad all around. I don't see what possible argument Dandy and Yoda could give at this point that would allow them to be granted access to commissioner tools.

I will say for the millionth time - the paywall is there for a reason.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

As for DandyChiggins, I feel bad for him as a friend, but as for me, I did apologize and am sure that I have changed. I have been graciously given a second chance by you, Guy, and the rest of PC for understanding.

At this point, I'd hope that I would still have access to commish tools - I am willing to have people keep an eye on me if you would wish it to be so. there are various owners that have believed I have changed (specifically erwin23) and can run a league honestly.

Thanks to everyone on PC that has been so understanding and kind :)

Re: Becoming a commissioner

And now, Dandy Chiggins is lying about having a second account.

I run the website my friend. I know. You had a second account, and now you are making it worse by lying about it.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Whatever dude you are not lying?

How old are you? Do you know anything about websites? Do you even know HOW I could know you had multiple accounts?

I am 100% sure.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

What I have against you is that you cheated, and then lied about cheating when called out.

If you want to be treated like an adult, act like one.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Maybe the 16 player trade between two users who joined about the same time was a clue.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Wow. You're doubling down on the lie?

That's impressive.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

IP addresses exist kiddo. Not hard to figure out when someone is cheating

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Well, this didn't take too long at all...

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Dempsey vindicated. Not saying he handled it in the best way but, well, he took a lot of heat while most of us saw this coming a mile away.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Nobody needs to enlighten you so that you can figure out ways around it. There are multiple methods that can be used to determine double accounts. And typically it’s pretty obvious because the two accounts are used in devious behavior with each other.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

This is too funny.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

I find this entire thread amusing, we have a guy that cried because he didn't like being called out for cheating, he gets caught, and deny's it when there is clear evidence that he did in fact cheat.

When faced with the fact that he did indeed cheat, he apologizes and people actually say give him another chance.

Then he says that some person I have never heard of before will be co-comissioner, I've only been on this site less than 3 years, yet never heard of him and he's going to keep an eye on a cheater?

ban this guy please, I can't even believe his gall

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Dandy, just ****ing stop man. Are you ****ing dense? Guy caught you. That’s it. You can try to weasel your way out of it, but that doesn’t change anything.

Best thing you can do is shut the **** up. No apologies. No explanations. Just shut up and try to NOT cheat.

As far as being a commish, neither of you should have tools. Hopefully Guy will take care of that. We don’t need anymore Brenduplantis’s in here.

Wait.... is this Brenduplantis?

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Bro this is too funny. I’ve been on this site since covid, and luckily got a league for free. Since I was honest, people joined and worked with me through the struggles. I have people who live in the same place as me that use same devices occasionally, so I understand if that was the thing. However, they would never try to stack my team or their own. DandyChigging, you cheated and it’s been so obvious. In the league where I GENEROUSLY gave you the comish duties, you screwed the pooch way too early. BucsBall could’ve handled it, but i tried to give him another person to help. Man, oh man, you’re situation can’t get worse. gbacci runs a fricking website, he could probably find your exact location if he needed too. As for age, nobody needs to know if you’re a good comish. I could be 8 years old for all you know, but nobody gives a crap if you’re honest and tell them you’re learning. Much respect to gbacci for catching these liars before it got out of hand!

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

That’s where you are wrong. Guy said it. We don’t need proof. It’s his sim. His code. He controls the servers. Do you not think a webmaster knows these things.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Question for you Dandy. Do you like PC? If so, I’d shut up now. If you keep it up, Guy will ban you from the site.

He doesn’t have time for bull**** like this. Again, shut up and play. Play straight too. You will be watched.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Hard to be chill with someone when he is cheating...

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

See ya Dandy. Stay in school.

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

gbacci does, and he doesn’t make mistakes. He’s practically a bot lol. Name should be gbotchi ;)

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

I’m sure Guy makes mistakes. Lol. But, not the case here. The responses from Dandy are classic “I got caught and not man enough to admit it”.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

I was kidding. But I’m sure Guy Bacci makes mistakes. Once he enters the site as gbacci, though, he goes full on beast mode. Yes, he will occasionally make mistakes, but gbacci is a living legend!

Re: Re: Becoming a commissioner

Baby yoda has maturely reached out to me to suggest deleting the league. I appreciate his decision. Edgar asked for it back so I will just give it back to edgar.

Sorry it came to this. I hope the young folks involved here learned something from it. One lesson I learned early on in life, when you’re caught, it will all go much better if you be honest. Once you double down on the lie, it only gets worse.

Re: Becoming a commissioner

Well that escalated quickly. Thanks again to gbacci for sniffing out issues and putting the fires out!
