boycotting the nfl

boycotting the nfl

after watching the saints / rams game and seeing the worst non call in nfl history
and then hear league officials and owners say they will not fix this for future games..ive decided i will no long waste my time and money on a shoddy product

Re: boycotting the nfl

I'm sure that your missing viewership will so severely impact the NFL's ratings that they be immediately forced to make every single aspect of each and every play subject to review in order to get you back and watching.

Major League Baseball will now allow reviews on each and every Called Strikes to insure that the ball crossed over the plate within the edges of home plate, and was located within the strike zone. MLB assures their fans that this change will add no more than 2.5 hours to the length of each game, BUT that in the interest of safety, the beer taps will no longer be shut off after the 7th inning, they will automatically shut off exactly 2 hrs and 15 minutes into each game, irrespective of the inning of the game being played.

Look, it was a horrible blown call, no doubt, the Saints got screwed, BUT when that call occurred the game was TIED- YES the Saints more than Likely (and I would hazard a guess that there was a 90 or higher % chance for them to run down the clock for 1 final game winning kick) should have won

BUT, you assume there would be no penalties, that the snap, hold, and Kick on the Field Goal would have all been good, and that the Defense would not Block the Kick.

The fact remains- the Saints DID kick a field Goal to TAKE THE LEAD with 1.41 remaining, and the Rams were OUT OF TIMEOUTS They then allowed the Rams to advance the Ball 45 yards to kick a game tying Field Goal.

THEN the Saints won the Toss in OT and threw an interception.

Yup, that is 100% the referees fault there.

A Horrible call? NO DOUBT, is it the ONLY reason the Saints lost? NO

Re: Re: boycotting the nfl

Haven't watched an NFL game since it became a political sh*tshow two seasons ago. And I was a diehard, whole family was...

There's a time and a place. If any of us brought our political views to work with us and made a spectacle airing them, we'd be terminated, especially after being warned multiple times.

Re: boycotting the nfl

I agree wholeheartedly with you jay, though I can't honestly say I don't still watch games here and there. I used to watch for enjoyment, I loved NFL football. Now I pretty much watch for two reasons, (1) with my 11 year old son (who loves football college and pro) and (2) fantasy football.

The NFL just isn't the same anymore for me, with all of the political garbage. I pretty much checked out when the Steelers (my favorite team growing up) made Alejandro Villanueva apologize for coming out of the tunnel and standing for the anthem. It looked like some kind of POW propaganda video.

As to the blown call, yes it was a blown call. It was also at an important stage of the game. Those facts cannot be denied. However, the human element of refereeing is still part of the game. As sincity pointed out New Orleans had plenty of opportunities to win despite the blown call. Champions either (a) don't put themselves in a position for a bad call to cost them the game, or (b) overcome bad calls. Just my two cents...

Re: Re: boycotting the nfl

and I will also have to admit, growing up and living in the Atlanta area, it was nice to see a little "karma" come to Sean Payton for the choke sign he flashed to Devonta Freeman and the Falcons... :-)

Re: boycotting the nfl

Wow Why is this such a big deal? well not a big deal. Lions fans have been dealing with this type of stuff since Berry retired.

But lets just go back to 2012-2017

Re: Re: boycotting the nfl

Packers o-line has been a holding machine. Why do you think A-Ron is a top 10 GB.
lions RG TJ lang was most penalized O-line player after signing as a FA 2017 season from GB. He had 3 holding calls the first to weeks and end the season with 7 penalties total.
2018 he played in 6 games and didnt have a penalty.
Tom Brady get a lot of Roughing the The QB calls
Cam Newton has had the crap beat out of him.

Just saying Lions fans are use to bad calls it's just part of our culture.
I really dont see what taking a knee or standing at attention was is such a big deal. Ever watch hockey players during the anthem?
They are spitting, talking, and leaning on there sticks.. Im a Vet and that didnt bother me,
I think Kaepernick and the other players could have found a different way to show awareness after it got steam rolling. Like maybe wearing patches to show support like the lions patch for WCF.
Sorry Im a die hard fan of football since I was a kid watching lions games at tiger stadium in the cold and snow.

Re: boycotting the nfl

I'm a lifelong Packer fan and while I agree, their O-line has stunk for awhile that is not the reason Aaron Rodgers is a good QB.
With you being a Lion fan I can see why you have the bitterness towards the Pack, but remember , you guys took both games this season. When's the last time that happened, Packers o-line must have stopped holding this season, lol.

Re: Re: boycotting the nfl

Alliance of American Football debuts on Feb 9th & 10 on CBS. I'll be watching since they will NOT be kneeling for the Anthem.
