Donaldson......

Donaldson......

After all the talk, he goes to the Twins?

Re: Donaldson......

Yes!! These guys are going to be fun to watch again this year for us Twins fans!! I presume Sano will slide over to 1st Base. They look really strong from 1 to 9 in the order, but I'm also sure that there will be regression in there somewhere from a few of their power hitters. I doubt we'll see 300 plus HRs again as a team. The Yankees, on the other hand, could definitely be plus 300 again, I think. They did it last year while missing some big pieces to injury for much of the year.

Re: Donaldson......

*cough* Stanton *cough*

That's at least an extra 25-30 homers, perhaps more...

Re: Re: Donaldson......

Even Judge missed time, but the replacements also hit a lot of HR so that covered some of the loss. And I’m sure the balls will be different anyway.

Re: Donaldson......

And don't forget - what ball will they be using?

Re: Donaldson......

Great addition for the Twins! They are the clear favorites in the AL Central. Shows how cheap the Dolan's are in Cleveland. They trade Kluber away which gives them 17.5 mil to spend to fix weak spots on roster. So far, they only spend 6 mil. On top of that, they will most likely be trading Lindor in July when they are 10 games behind the Twins because they either refuse to pay their biggest star 30 mil a year or allegedly cannot afford him. The Indians window has closed. The 72 year old drought continues. It is a shame that MLB has such disparity between team salaries. The Red Sox were at 213 mil and the Marlins were at 63 mil in 2019. That is $150 mil difference!!! That is crazy and not good for the sport.

Re: Donaldson......

Don't forget though, the Sox are shopping Price, Eovaldi, hell even Betts could be included if no one takes either

And unlike Miami, Cleveland was a contender that had minimal funds to work with, while Miami was, and still is, nowhere NEAR contention. Both have very small markets to play in, perhaps bottom 10 overall in the entire MLB. Cleveland needing to cuts costs was inevitable, a matter not of if, but of when

Re: Re: Donaldson......

I predict that by the 4th year of his contract, the Twins will regret this. I thought 3 years was a stretch. There's a difference between spending and wasting money. You can criticize the Dodgers for not throwing money away, but they won't spend stupid money. Also, everyone is paying for juiced baseball numbers - what happens when they take the air out of the ball?

Re: Donaldson......

Agreed about Donaldson's contract. I give him 2 good years, 1 mediocre year, and the final year will be bad. He is already 34.

However, if they make it far in the post-season, it will be worth it.

It will be interesting to see if the ball changes next year. Remember..."Chicks dig the long ball!"

I think the only reason the Sox are shopping everyone is because they don't want to pay the tax. They can afford the salaries, but don't want to pay any additional money for the tax penalty of being over the salary ceiling.

Re: Donaldson......

$92 million guaranteed. Right or wrong, the Braves ownership Liberty media would never go there. I'm not exactly sure if the Braves are considered a small market team or not, but they certainly spend money like they are (from a long-suffering Braves fan).

Hate to see him go, he was breath of fresh air here in Atlanta, a guy with an edge to him, unlike all of the "toe the line" types the Braves typically go for.
