Duplicates Feature Acting Up

Duplicates Feature Acting Up

Some glitches I've noticed with 'Resolve Duplicates' feature. In one of the leagues I run, this feature as used as a final sweep for any new season imports that might already be in the league..

Well, I have two Mike Piazza's in my league, but the duplicates page shows only one, yes, just ONE Piazza on the Duplicates page. Thought that was weird.. Then, I was importing new players for my own Phillies franchise in the league, and there SHOULD have been a duplicates hit on Ruben Amaro (Jr.). His 1992 season was already in the league (now as a FA), yet when his 1993 season was imported, 'Resolve Duplicates' didn't pick it up at all ! Since it was my franchise, and I KNEW Amaro had 300+ AB in '92 (he wasn't eligible for a reserve status in my league), I checked the FA pile and there was Amaro, first when you sorted by Names. So I deleted the '93 version, as per league rules.

Just wanted to make you (webmaster) aware of these glitches, I'm not sure how often these things may happen ?

Re: Duplicates Feature Acting Up

The duplicates page works based on name match. Is it possible the names weren’t exactly the same?

Re: Re: Duplicates Feature Acting Up

No. They were imported via "Import Historic Team" which is via baseball-reference.com. They weren't created by me, nor edited.

Re: Duplicates Feature Acting Up

I see the two Piazza's in Good, Bad and Ugly. One Piazza has a space at the end of his last name. The import would not have put a space in there, so he must have been edited at some point and someone added a space accidentally. I will fix the edit player page to removing any trailing spaces off names.

Re: Re: Duplicates Feature Acting Up

He was a reserve. The '92 version deleted and replaced with the '93 version, so yes, they were noted with a (1) and (2). That makes sense. Hard to see a space you've forgotten if you aren't looking for it. Haha
