DWar Questions

DWar Questions

I'm sure this has been discussed on here in the past, but I can't find anything on the site.
Has anyone figured out on average how many hits are robbed when factoring in Dwar for each position?
If a SS plays all 162 games in a season, how any. hits would he rob if say;
.5 Dwar, 1 Dwar and so on. Let's say a SS at 1 Dwar robs 25 hits over a season, would a 2 Dwar SS rob 50 on average? 3 dwar 75? Or is it on a curve where the higher the DWar the higher the increase in percentage of hits robbed?

Also, which positions rob the most basses? I assume, its SS, CF, but after that I'm not sure where to focus on DWar and if its worth it. How would you rank the rest of the positions in order of importance?

Is there a breaking point where after a certain DWar there just aren't anymore hits to rob?

Thanks for any input

Re: DWar Questions

My own estimations from sandbox experiments:
Per 162 games:

2B/SS/CF: 24 hits robbed per dWAR
3B/1B/LF/RF/C: 12 hits robbed per dWAR

Re: Re: DWar Questions

Here are some numbers from my 2000 leagues...

SS
Tulowizki, 3.87 DWAR, 93D*
Rollins, 2,6 DWAR, 157G = 45D*

cf
Alex Rios, 2.06 DWAR, 159G, 42D*
Ichiro, 2,36 DWAR, 161G, 55D*

3b
Glaus, 1,84 DWAR, 159 G 24D*
Beltre 2,45 DWAR, 162G, 28D*

Re: DWar Questions

3B gets abused, they should be way more important than 1B

Re: Re: DWar Questions

Thanks guys! That's helpful info and it looks like you all came up with similar numbers.

Re: DWar Questions

These are my numbers for D plays per 1 dW per 162 games:

C: 12
1B: 13
2B: 22
3B: 16
SS: 23
LF/RF: 14
CF: 20

Re: Re: DWar Questions

as a follow up question-

i know that position is not relevant when determining what kind of hit is saved (i.e. a catcher can save a HR), is the same true for giving UP extra hits (i.e. a negative dwar fielder). can a negative dwar catcher give up a HR due to poor defense?

Re: DWar Questions

It works the same. The hit (or failed out turned into hit) happens then type of hit is determined last.
