Speed Progressions

Speed Progressions

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone happened to know the thresholds at which speed (so 3B and SB) progressed. Like if a player has 0 SB and/or 0 3B, it seems to stay there no matter how many progressions, and the same seems to be true for other numbers as well. I'm definitely going to start taking observational notes as well and perhaps doing sandbox tests if I need to, but before all that, I just wanted to know if anyone knew the thresholds off the top of head.

Thanks!

Re: Speed Progressions

Dont know the thresholds, but yeah, a while back Guy set it purposely so that slow guys dont suddenly become fast because of progressions. I do know speed stops progressing at age 26.

Re: Re: Speed Progressions

Not sure about triples, but I believe the SB limit is 9. 10 and over they will progress. 9 and under, they will never change.

Re: Speed Progressions

I tried to figure out the formula once but never landed on the answer.

I do know that at bats are a factor, as I've had a 27 year old increase at bats, while not moving in 3B or SB due to age, and speed regressed from a 9 to an 8. Also a chance its plate appearances and not at bats....

24y, 502 ab, 15 3b, 31 sb, 8 speed
25y, 506 ab, 16 3b, 32 sb, 9 speed
26y, 509 ab, 16 3b, 32 sb, 9 speed
27y, 512 ab, 16 3b, 32 sb, 8 speed

That's all the data I can give away for free :)

Re: Re: Speed Progressions

Yeah it definitely sucks when the player gets "better" and loses a speed ranking!

Re: Speed Progressions

From the Player Potential page: “ Players who have little to no speed won't ever get "faster" and players will stop getting "faster" at age 26 regardless.” So if a player does continue to gain ABs and the speed numbers stop gaining, his speed will naturally slow down.
