Doubling Stats
Doubling Stats
In 2 of the leagues I run, we double the Stats of SP's that import with less than 85 IP. These are both Classic Progressing leagues. I've noticed that in a lot of cases, the SP's with just under 85 IP are kind of getting hosed on progression. If a pitcher has 84 IP, he gets doubled to 168 - and progresses much slower. Is there any way we could get at least one more level to increase IP in the commissioner tools ? I'm thinking something like:
1. Increase 25 %
2. Double Stats

Re: Doubling Stats
I may be missing something here, why does an SP with 168 IP get hosed in progression?
Re: Re: Doubling Stats
I should have explained a little better. A lot of Custom leagues that use progression use limits to keep some players from progressing too fast . Most leagues use 125/35 to import players, but then Double SP's that fall under 85. So, an SP with 84 IP becomes 168 and an SP with 85 IP is good to go. The 85 IP guy will progress more rapidly. I'm just asking if we add a layer between Actual and Doubled to level it out a bit more so that the 84 IP guy is 126 instead of 168. Does this make sense? Maybe I over explained it (in typical Sheik fashion).
Re: Doubling Stats
I still we wish had the ability to set minimum IP's for both SP's and RP's when importing. Then we could set 85ip for an SP and 35 for an RP, and if a young SP is below 85, it won't import him at all.
Problem now is it imports SP's as long as they are over 35ip.

Re: Re: Doubling Stats
Yes, exactly - 1.5 instead of 2.0. A sliding scale would be the perfect option, but I'll take whatever's easiest to implement.
Re: Re: Doubling Stats
Just curious, but instead of doubling why not just add a couple innings onto the pitcher? I realize then his "real stats" are altered, but if you're doing classic progression the real stats are going to be bastardized soon anyway. Just an idea. I could add the "1.5" idea to the wishlist.
This also made me realize, if you ran an import and some SPs with less than 85 IP got in there, there is no easy way to get rid of them other than one-by-one deleted/retiring them. The Retire Players does not let you distinguish between SP or RP, that seems like a big miss on my part. And of course delete players is pretty limited.

Re: Doubling Stats
You're right about adding IP, I'll have to give this some thought. It would have to be on a case-by-case basis, which would require a little more work and a standard for whether you double or add IP. Also the SP specific import level would be useful too. Thanks Guy.
Re: Re: Doubling Stats
Is it not possible to add a separate box for SP's and RP's in the import player menu to set different IP's?
Re: Doubling Stats
@REVEJB it's actually not that straight forward because the master database has no distinction between a SP or RP, they are all just pitchers, so what happens now is that pitchers get imported to the league and THEN some logic is used to make them SP or RP... so, it's something I will have to work on.
