New quick draft league suggestion

New quick draft league suggestion

Since we are making suggestions I will bring up one I have brought up for the past few years but for some reason falls on deaf ears.

I would like 1970 to present to be chopped up into 1970 to 1999 and 2000 to present. I've brought this up before, I just think 5 decades is a little too much and I'd love to chop it up. It would make both leagues new and exciting.

I've brought this up before and for some reason hear crickets but hey what the heck I'll bring it up again.

Re: New quick draft league suggestion

I’d vote for that ✅
2000’s being expanded to present would be awesome, plus we could look forward to new players being added every year (keeping it fresh).

But this is asking MrBacci to do more work, and I’m sure he has his hands full with his own family and babysitting the boards.

Still a good idea

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

Colin, it appears we are on the same desolated island, with no other life forms present.

Lol, I hear ya, gbacci works hard no doubt. I feel like once you split the leagues there would be no more additional work.

I find it so strange that people comment like crazy when I post that indent like italics or that I'm against changes, however when I propose a new idea which would be very entertaining in trying to master the two new leagues, that all I hear is crickets. And kind you I've posted this in 2016 and 2017 and nobody ever comments on it lol. So strange to me.

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

I support you guys with these..., but I am a bit out of words with all those changes that seems to be so odd to me...quite tired to argue about them.. I am still concern about one of my newly draft league being stuck with Ryne Sandberg at 1B....but I will surely be able to get over it....

I am trying not to be so sour about the changes, since after all, most of the people who are for those changes, and are being very vocal about them, do only play a very minimal amount of auto leagues or are quite unsuccessful at them or are quite new to the site... I may get some tomatoes thrown at me, but hey! It is what it is...

What company management person would have his inexperience or unsucesfull staff being their right hand man and be their go to guys for advice and suggestion???

A lot, don't handle the sim to well and are looking at an artificial leverage, like it would be T-Ball all over again...

I can't blame Guy, he build quite a gem here with this site, he works hard trying to content everybody, and also after all,it his is site, he surely needs to make it work on a business standpoint...to bad he his not getting the wished diffusion he would like, since a lot of sim baseball game maniac could fall in love with this site...

Maybe these people, from my generation, are getting older and don't have as much time to play these sim game anymore...maybe I am one of the few dinosaur who got hooked from a very young age to them...

The Few Experience / Successful owners who are expressing their concerns are perceived as the ones not willing to adapt...and being scared to be thrown down their thrones...even though they will be the first one to adapt and still be successful, where the one hit wonders are still going to play and quit or play and let go after a very short while, or still voice new concerns after a while about how SUPP draft are still problematic, FA are disfavoring them because experience owners are picking on the all you can eat buffet... or even the new quick draft is not giving them a chance since they picked last in a keepers league...bla,bla,bla... where it his all wrong...
They are mostly the ones picking marginal players in SUPP drafts, and FA, and they will still do so, leaving the fresh meat and useful players for others...

How often will I miss the SUPP draft, pick last in an auto, or miss the FA buffet and stil win...

Like going through learning curves in this game isn't normal anymore... where it his in every single thing that we do in life from any games you will be playing, sports, work, social interaction, problems solving in everyday situation that comes to you,etc....

Hope I can get more constructive in my arguments instead of complaining...

Obviously. Adding a 2010 to present league can also be fun.

1970 to present seems to carry to many players...now and can surely be divided...

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

I hear you Trulaia, something that would make PC more interesting instead of changing something we found fun. I think PlPl512 is on the island somewhere too. Lol
Gotta just trust in Guy and hope for the best.

I also noticed (possibly a by product of all useful players already being on rosters) that after Day 6,7,8 there are no more transactions in most AutoLeagues anymore. Shame, used to be fun finding a speedster , defensive replacement for your underperforming slugger w/no D

I’m glad the gang is enjoying the new QuickDraft, unfortunately it’s not for me

PlPl512 has many good points, and I appreciate the support of my point of view.
Regardless, we are all on the same PC ride, let’s enjoy!

Trulaia and PLPL512, Keep Dominating!

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

I even think that some current leagues still omitted some players....

I can think of the best of 2000 league not having Mark McGwire in there, his 2000'S season would make him the best 1B in there and quite a difference maker, Will Clark also can be valuable...
David Justice did knock out more than 40HRs in 2000 in very few AB...these are just a few guys that comes to mind...

Also just bringing current decade leagues (2010 to present) should be quite attractive to the younger guys also, who are maybe more attached to the new generation of baseball players, pretty sure these auto's would fill up quick...

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

2010 to present would be great.

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

Well said PLPL. Welcome to the island. I try to remember back to what drew me into this game and more than anything it was the simulation aspect of it. So to PLPLs/Colin point and to reiterate my own, having different leagues provides way more different kinds of simulations. I LOVE the best of a certain year because you get to know and experience players you normally would not.

I find the whole complaint thing perplexing. There was never a day in the 6 years I've been playing this game where I questioned the rules or structure of the game presented to us by gbacci. I just worked at it and learned how to be more successful.

Ultimately I will just with what is presented. As for gbacci I dont envy your position. Trying to appease the old timers as well as meeting the needs of new players. I will roll with whatever, I just wish those experienced, who have put in the time and money, had a bigger voice. Having said that I do understand the need for growth of pennant chase as a whole.

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

Just to be clear, not an issue of not listening to those who have put in time and money. There are just as many of you on the other side of this argument. They just are not posting here. You may argue they don't play in Auto Leagues as much. That could be true. But Auto Leagues were never meant to be a place for vets to squat and just dominate. The idea is to grow into Custom Leagues or Daily Drafts, which are much harder, not figure out the quirks of the Quick Draft and chug along with a .700 win pct. There's even one infamous user who piled up Fav Team Phillies teams one after another and racked up his titles.

Now, I get that these folks are enjoying the site in their own way. I don't necessarily want to take that away from them, but these particular users are not great "business". Quick Draft auto leagues were intended for those new, get your feet wet, your appetite wet. When Auto Leagues (esp. Quick Draft) become half-filled with the super-savvy vets, it leaves very little room for someone new, and is a real turnoff - and thus, less growth of the website, and less Auto Leagues being offered overall. You guys want more styles of Auto League - I'm not growing Auto League styles because we have a glut because the site isn't growing. You can see the dilemma.

Some of you know, if I could start all over, Quick Draft would have never been a thing. I probably would have created the Daily and probably some sort of Auction Style draft out the gate. Quick Draft is way too problematic for all the reasons these recent threads have mentioned. But it's here, and it's not going away.

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

Daily Drafts are great, but still fairly easy, since you can build a fairly strong pitching rotation of the gate with your first 5 picks, and the rest doesn't have much importance...since you will find good enough players to compensate and build a winner...

Customs, have so much rules, etc, it is so much time consuming...

Anybody who have a normal work schedule can't really follow the Daily draft and the Customs properly...

+ I've been there, done that in customs...I don't need the everyday drama seen in a lot of them.. I don't trade much, so it his fairly boring for any compulsive guy who likes to shovel is lineup 5 times a season to have me in is league refusing every trades thrown at me....

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

I remember when I first played Strat-O-Matic.

I would systematically lose to my older brother and friends...

Bought a brand new box every year... Kept the box underneath my bed, sneaking at every players cards trying to figure who should be helping me out in a future draft...

By the second or 3rd year playing, I became better...by playing against good players... I learned from them...

A sim game remains a sim game, you don't get better overnight...

You get to enjoy it as you get a better feel and understanding of it...

PC was no exception, got better at it by playing against good opposition and looking at what they do...

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

I guess I didnt get the memo of squatting lol. My wife calls me a turn off every night so I guess I'm used to it. I'm just going to shut up now.

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

Lol, all that Squatting ain’t “good for business” at home either huh?

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

I can slowly go back on the island out of words.. at least I have some fresh tomatoes to peel...

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

HaHa Patrick, Welcome back. ....at least they are fresh

Hope you have plenty, we will probably be here awhile

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

I’m using Patrick’s strategy in my next daily draft. I’m obviously doing it wrong! :)

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

Can you believe that guy is still available at the free agent buffet...

This has nothing to do with veterans squating on leagues and scaring inexperience owners off..

Jorge Posada, best of 2000, still available at day 7, hitting for .288 across leagues, at such a key position...not much we can do here, if an inexperience owner didn't spot that player yet, chances are he will never spot him...

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

In that same league,

Not to put somebody under the bus, but it his facts of some auto leagues reality and such a great example...

A well enough experience owner, picks both Todd Helton and Jason Giambi, 2 of the major studs, in the supp draft to still have them sit on the bench at game 7 and having Chad Tracy in there still...

If the guy want's to tank, to beneficiate an other owner, He can't do any better....not that I think it his done on purpose...

Blaming the carefull owners about their win pct. and defending the careless ones with these indecencies hapenning over and over again...seems so odd to me,

Integrity of the site and these leagues are way more baffle by these guys...

Re: New quick draft league suggestion

I was wondering something the opposite of the beginning of this string.

Why aren't deadball players included in the ATG players?

Re: Re: New quick draft league suggesti

zeedood - A bit off topic for this thread, but the issue there is way too many .400 hitters and lots of pitchers with crazy stats - ATG would become far too heavy toward the ancient era... hence deadball given it's own pool and leagues...

Re: New quick draft league suggesti

Thanks for the info gbacci! Now I know!
