Bot/Filler Logic
Bot/Filler Logic
I get that Filler teams are never going to be that good, but the Logic the SIM employs almost assures they suck.
Look at the Filler Team below
https://www.pennantchase.com/lgTeam.. THEIR LINEUPS
Josh Willingham, a -2.15 Dwar in Center Field, while a + 1.14 is in Right Field
Ricky Weeks a 2B/IF - 1.35 DWar whose Fielding Percentage is only .930 at SS - they could put Rodriguez at 3B and Devers at SS - increasing defense at both positions as well as a BA upgrade -
Geovanny Soto at DH instead of say Grandal - a better Hitter and a Switch Hitter
They are not even competitive under their current setup

really bad

Re: Bot/Filler Logic
Now that bots are so prominent it could be worth spending more time on the logic, or even trying to leverage AI to help with the logic. For example, right now I believe the CPU may stay away from putting a catcher at DH because you'd be in a bad spot with no catcher on the bench, but in this case the team has three catchers which is somewhat rare, but the logic isn't accounting for that. It's also not making switches with defense in mind, which is a fair bit of extra logic to build in.
