What’s up with this team

What’s up with this team

Hi,
I can’t seem to figure out what is wrong with my All Time Greats 1482 team. Why are they doing better? Any advice?

Mark

Re: What’s up with this team

Your biggest problem is giving up 55 unearned runs. I see you replaced the out-of-position Appling with Alomar - I would have left Valentin at SS, he was a possitive defensively and In my experience, he'll out hit Yount. You're scoring runs and getting good pitching - reducing errors will help.

In addition to Sheik's comments, Ted WIlliams should NOT be your CF option.

Re: What’s up with this team

Yeah, should be Cobb in RF (plus arm), Williams in LF and replace Delahanty with Trout (CF). Trout will end up with a better OPS and he'll save a lot of runs in CF. I don't like Aaron at 3B, but at this point, you're kind of stuck with him. If you make these changes , and stick with them for a while, you should see better results.

Re: Re: What’s up with this team

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Valentin was fielding .957, Appling was fielding .914 and Delahanty was fielding .925, so I brought in Aaron and Alomar to get better fielding results. The E column in complied stats is errors, right? Appling had 22 and Valentin had 15! So when i'm trying to see if the guys are performing like their dWar would indicate, i look at fielding percentage. Is that how you do it? How else do you get errors down? And umm where do you see the 55 unearned runs? yeah, stupid question, but I appreciate the help.

Re: What’s up with this team

You can assess DWar in the D* column. That is how many positive or negative defensive plays they have made above average. Since those plays take away hits they can make up for the errors. If you take the D* and subtract the errors that is essentially how much positive contribution that player has made on defense.

Shiek,
I agree about Aaron. I changed him to a season with his best dWar and + arm and I'm hoping for the best.
