League Rules
* Start in 1969 with real stats of all 24 teams (Provo Pumas for San Diego Padres), 2 leagues with 2 divisions each, 25-man MLB rosters, 3-man minor league spots. No trading, limited free agent signings (one signing from "Padres" for each player taken by Pumas).* 5-man rotation
* Add rookies each year that make their debut with those teams (Padres to Free Agents) (40 AB, 12 IP). Imported players receive the "rookie tag."
* New players have rookie tags until they reach 150 compiled AB or 50 compiled IP. Players progress to real stats from the current year. Pumas get real college stats, then minor-league stats, then major-league stats.
* All post-season series are best-of-seven with game off after games 2 & 5. There will be 2 days off between each series. An MVP will be chosen for each post-season series. No roster changes can be made mid-Series. Move to 3 divisions in 1998 with 2 wild cards per league.
* After supplemental free agent signings. Hold a 1-round live draft of players without a team each off-season (after rosters are cut to 30) going in reverse order of previous year's standings to fill holes by rank. Teams with less than 28 players may sign up to 28. If holes are filled, signings are based on age of "old" positions.
* Each offseason, teams may swap primary and secondary positions of multiple players. Also, they may change pitchers from SP to RP or vice versa, but stamina doesn't change.
* No interleague play. I can manage the Pumas the final 12 games of the season if in contention and in the postseason.
* Stadium dimensions are set based on real parks.
* Players retire when they did IRL. Players who miss a year (or don't have enough AB/IP to qualify) are temporarily retired and return to their previous team.
* Starting in 2000, a HOF vote will be held to induct 1 pitcher and 1 hitter from among eligible retired players. To be eligible, a player must have played 10+ seasons and be: 1) Among the Top 10 all-time in at least one major category and hold at least one major record; or 2) Must be in the Top 25 all-time in multiple categories, or 3) Be in the Top 50 all-time in multiple categories and hold at least one major record.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
