Misfits Rebooted League RulesThe Basics
As stated on the home page, the league consists of a player pool drawn from historically lousy MLB teams 1884-2014 As players age out of the league, the commish will replenish the player pool using rosters of other crummy teams.
(Revised from 1884-2009, Jan. 21, 2019; from 1884-2013, August 4, 2021).
Players will be dispersed via supplemental draft (Three separate rounds, based on team record, worst to first). You will be notified when to rank players. You will have at least two full days after the league message is sent out to rank players.
Owners who choose not to rank will not receive any players.
For the first season any duplicate players were set to their earliest relevant season.
Each season is 162 games.
Progression
Players' real life stats will be used for progression. It is advised that you play every player on your roster at least one (1) game per season as this helps ensure that they stay on the team roster in the event that they have a season in which they fall below minimum IP or AB requirements (50 AB, 25 IP) and then resurface in a later season. This is the owners responsibility. Also, be sure to inform your commishioner if your player will miss multiple seasons. This is particularly important for war years.

Rule Adjustment, October 2018: We are no longer using holding teams. Players are progressed to the next season they meet the minimum IP or AB requirements.
Rosters
This is a non-contract league. Once you acquire a player he is yours until he is dropped, traded, retires, or dies. This includes postion players who become pitchers and vice versa. For example, Hal Jeffcoat is a position player through 1953 and a pitcher from 1954 onward. He will remain on the roster of the team which had him the prior year. For players who switch but do not meet the minimum IP or AB requirements (50 AB, 25 IP), they will be progressed forward per the rule adjustment above.
Rosters will consist of 25 major leaguers and 10 minor leaguers.
Getting Started
For season one, once all teams have owners, I will conduct 24 one round supplemental drafts. After this takes place, a notice will be posted giving date and time for open free agency to fill rosters.
Drops will also turn on when open free agency does. Free agency will remain open all season, except during playoffs. Drops will also be on after progressions and imports until right before we hold the draft.
For season one, owners have the ability to adjust their home park dimensions, logo and minor league city until opening day. In future seasons, owners may submit wanted changes to the commishioner at any time during the offseason.
Playoffs
First place teams in each division will qualify for playoffs. One wild card team will play division winner with best record. Unless wild card winner has better record than other division winners, in which event teams will be seeded 1 to 4. Three days rest will be given between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. In the event of a tie for the wild card a one game tiebreaker will be held. No additional time off will be granted before this tie-breaker.
Two days rest will be granted after final first round playoff game before beginning of League Championship. All series will be best of 7. Travel days after 2 and 5.
Rotation: Teams will use a FOUR man rotation.
Trades: Trades are unlimited. Teams may trade anytime except during playoffs. Unless a trade is very egregious, I'll make it my practice not to veto trades. Remember this is real progression league, homework is required before making deal. One owner got fleeced a few times. If you are lucky enough to land 1979 Rickey Henderson, he would be of moderate value first season, but he has very long productive career.
Awards: Awards will be given for MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Fireman of the Year (Relief pitcher). MVP, Cy Young, ROY will be determined by the commish, based on leaders on the awards page. FOY will use following formula SV =3pts W=2pts L= -2 pts -2pts for BS. Also the following league leader awards Pete Rose Silver Slugger for BA, Stormin Gorman HR trophy, Herb Washington SB trophy, Roy Face Vulture trophy (league leader relief wins) Big Unit SO Trophy. Mad Hungarian SV trophy, last but not least, fitting with the motif of the league, the Dr. Strangeglove trophy most errors comitted.
MARK EICHHORN AWARD: Middle/long reliever of the year: Pitchers with less than 15 saves, more than 80 IP, and less than 3 game starts.
Jose Lima Award: Highest ERA over 162.1 innings
John Coleman Award: Most losses by a starting pitcher
Conduct
Treat your fellow owners as you would wish to be treated, like gentlemen. That being said, a little trash talk is fine by me. Owners who are not heard from over two weeks, without a prior notification to the commish, are liable to lose their franchise.
Sims
User sim will be turned on. Also the commish will sim games when he is online. Usually between 9am and 11pm EST.
