League Rules
Welcome to the Arizona Fall League! You should change the team name, logo, stadium names and dimensions to what you wish
What the purpose of this league is:
- A first true minor league environment
- Having some games going during the offseason
- A place for the top prospects across the league to compete against each other
PLAYER POOL:
Who is eligible for the AFL:
- everyone with the prospect/rookie tag.
- Post day 120 callups/debuts who have managed to exceeded rookie limits in their first (and league's final) 60 days of the regular season are also allowed to participate
- Potentially some young players with an overwhelming amount of bench time and a legit prospect argument (case by case). (2053 Collin Kendrick would be the poster child for this smaller category)
- Contract status doesn't matter.
- I've transferred nearly all the players, but there's 8 rosters full of prospects, it's a lot to sort through, so I've likely missed someone or slipped through the crack. Just send me a message to let me know which players and I will add them to your team.
LEAGUE SETUP:
- There will be 8 teams total
- Each team consists of the 4 farms of a specific division*
- The manager of a team will have access to the entire collection of their assigned division's rookies and prospects
ROSTER CONSTRUCTION:
- Roster Limit: 28 majors, like the majors
- Pitching Rotation: 5 Man Rotation (4 days rest)
Lineup construction:
- It is up to the manager and their discretion to determine who best possible starters are - (based on some combination of current ability and future ceiling), at each position. They should become the full time starter for the team.
- Platooning should generally be avoided, with
maximum possible playing time dedicated to the best prospects.**
- No Fatigue. I guess no one is interested in that
- No Injuries, because the whole point is to see how good guys are on the diamond, not on crutches.
Bullpen: lot of teams just don't have relief prospects, so we'll see how rosters shape up
TEMPORARY TRANSFERS AND SHIFTS:
- With this league setup, it means that sometimes a second best (and very deserving) will be left without a starting spot.
- The opposite can also happen - not deep enough farms across a division.
- In either scenario, I will work with the manager(s) to come up with a fix for strictly that current season to get the league's next best prospects their full playing time**
This will be achieved in one of two ways:
1) Either by switching them to their secondary position
2) OR sending them to play out the season on another division team*
WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM MANAGERS:
-Check your roster to make sure everyone that you needed is placed on the team. If there is someone you want or I missed someone just send message
- So, once you've got roster, figure out what your set-in-stone part of starting lineup will be (out of the 9 hitters and 5 SPs), place those guys in the lineups
- The players that don't immediately get a starting job now have the availability to be in consideration for a starting job elsewhere via previously mentioned "transfer portal" *
- You can still add onto your starter list later on. Transfer isn't final in the case someone approaches a player you haven't started yet.
- For positions where you feel your team can bring in a higher quality prospect, search the other 7 roster for players that haven't been added to the starter list yet. You can request those players as a starter for your team if they are extra on some other squad.
- Also after all that, If anyone desires, they can do a writeup on the final lineups.
REGULAR SEASON:
- 84 games to be played by every team. That's 12 vs every other division, 6 home and 6 away.
- Sim: every 4 hours
- No scheduled days off. This is meant as a short 2 week (real time) season during the pre-offseason part of the greater SARMLB schedule. Not much of a real need to extend the season beyond that.
- Slump buster is allowed but 2 day limit because any more would basically be the entire season
There are no playoffs, just one best of 7 championship series after the season between the 2 best records.
Tiebreakers: H2H, then run differential. If more than 2 teams tied, then straight to RD.
Best overall record gets home Field advantage for CS
2 games, day off, 3 games, day off, 2 games
Full 5 days rest to be granted before CS start
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
