League Rules
Players? This league uses real players, real stats, and real progression. Players are eligible for the league if they had 40 real at-bats or pitched 15 real innings in the corresponding year.
? Rookies will be assigned to teams based on the team they played for the most in the season they first become eligible (at least 40 at-bats or 15 innings pitched; player seasons not in the PC database will not be added).
? Players remain with the team that they join as rookies (or that they began the league with in 1931) until they are traded or dropped.
? In a situation where a player makes no appearances, then has a year or more "retired" (i.e. not enough "real" stats to qualify for this league), and returns in a future season based on real stats with another team, the player will go to the latter team. In order to keep from losing a player in this situation, teams need to give the player at least one appearance so that there will be a record of this on his player card. If a team fails to do this, they can send a message to the commissioner regarding the player before player progression removes the player from their roster.
? The schedule has no days off except for three at the all-star break and the randomly generated days off (See the Schedule section below). Fatigue is used, so some players will need to be rested at times.
? Owners may request pitcher conversions. Starters can be converted to relievers if they pitched a significant number of innings in relief during the real season. Likewise, relievers may be converted to starters if they started a significant number of games during the real season. In order to be converted to SP, the player must have started at least 1/3 of their appearances OR have a stamina of at least 50. If converted, this new SP stamina will then be set to 80.
To be converted to a RP, the player must have relieved at least 1/3 of their appearances OR have a stamina of at most 70. If converted, this new RP will have a stamina of 30.
?Owners may request one position player change per season. The player must either have played at least 25% of their season appearances at the position, or have played 50% of their career games at that position in order to convert.
(Appearances section of Baseball Reference is used to make this determination).
Supplemental Draft
? A 5 round supplemental draft will be held before each season. Order is reverse of prior seasons standings, WS winner drafts last.
Tiebreakers: head to head, then run diff.
? Teams are not allowed to go over the roster limit in the supplemental draft.
Rosters
? Teams may have up to 25 players on the major league roster.
? In order for the sim to run, teams must have at least 9 pitchers and 11 position players on their major league rosters.
? Minor league rosters are limited to 3 players.
? Trading is unlimited from the end of the world series until the trade deadline after day 120. Unreasonable trades may be reversed by the commissioner. New owners may not trade until they have run their team for 10 days.
? Slump buster is limited to 10 days.
Lineups
? Starting Pitchers: This league uses 4-man rotations until 1973. In 1974 the league will begin to use a 5 man rotation.
Schedules
? Regular Season: 162 games - Teams will be granted 3 days off for the All-Star break after day 90.
Playoffs
? All 3 division winners in each league will advance to the playoffs. In the event of a tie for the division, head to head first will determine the division winner. If that is tied, run differential.
? 1 wild card team from each league will make the playoffs. In the event of a tie between 2 teams, head to head first will determine the wild card team. If that is a tie, run differential will determine the wild card team. If more than 2 teams are tied, run differential will determine the wild card team.
? Seeding will be determined by win/loss record for division champions. #1 seed goes to team with best record. In the event of a two-team tie, head-to-head will determine the seed. If that is a tie, run differential will determine the seed.
Wildcard teams are always seeded lowest. Once the league has multiple wildcards, win-loss records determine seeding, followed by head to head, followed by run differential.
? The series length will follow the format of the MLB from that time period. Division series will be best of 5 and LCS and World Series best of 7 starting in 1994.
? World Series - best-of-7 series (2-3-2 format) with home-field advantage corresponding with the World Series schedule from the same "real" season.
3 days off will be granted after the Division series, LCS, and World Series
Drops/Free Agents
? Free agents will be acquired thru a waiver system which will begin at the start of the season. 1 player may be acquired after each game. Waiver order will be determined by last seasons standings for first 10 games, then by reverse order of current standings.
? Players may be dropped at any time.
Sims
? User simming is on, so after 4 hours, any owner can sim games.
Hall of Fame
Each off season, owners can submit 5 Hall of Fame candidates. To qualify, the player must have played for a minimum of 10 years and have been retired for a minimum of 5 years. Owners will then vote for inductees. Those who get at least 70% of the votes will be inducted. If a player gets at least one vote their first year they are a candidate to be eligible on the next ballot. Each player has 3 tries to become inducted.
