League Rules

This is a Keeper League with player progressions. The player pool is mostly comprised of guys from 1960 to present. I may add a few older players just to spice it up when necessary.

You can choose any team name and logo. Teams can edit their home field characteristics.

2 Leagues of 2 Divisions each.

SCHEDULE:
The Regular Season is 162 games. Every team plays 72 games versus their Division (18 each), 42 games versus teams in their League's other Division (9 vs 4 of them, 6 vs 1 of them) and 48 Inter-League games (a 5 game series vs 8 of them, and a 4 game series vs 2 of them).

ROSTERS:
-25 man Roster in Majors plus 5 spots in Minors
-You can have 20 people under contract. The maximum Contract length is 10 years. (Excluding Franchise Players - see FRANCHISE PLAYER section below).
-You cannot re-sign players at the end of their contracts (adds to strategy) (***except for Franchise, they can be extended***)
-Players will be retired after age 38 season unless they're still under contract.

ROOKIE TAG:
-Players with 'Rookie Tag' will also be kept and do not count as a contract. Rookie Tag is valid through age 21* - removed DURING age 21 season. (You can usually get a discount by signing them early)
-All 18yr olds will be assigned a *Rookie Tag that sticks with them into their 20yr old season as well. All 17yr -20yr players will have this tag displayed.
-The Tag will be removed for their 21yr old season, so they have to be signed to a contract to keep them once that season ends if you want to keep them.
-They can also be traded at any time.
-I think this will help out teams in a full rebuild or leading up to a rebuild. It will also help teams with large Salary Cap investments in fewer players.

RETIREMENT:
-Players will be retired after age 38 season unless they're still under contract.
-I may also delete players not being selected, and re-use them as Rookies.

DRAFTS / FREE AGENCY / TRADES / WAIVERS
At the end of a season players Signed to a Contract, and players that are Tagged (Franchise and Rookie) will be kept.
All unsigned and untagged players will become Free Agents.

***UPDATED Draft - A 1-Round draft will be run (including Rookies). The following day a 5-Round draft will be run. Managers should use this time to update their draft strategy if necessary.

Then an Auto Draft will put rosters to at least 23 players for all teams.

IF THERE ARE STILL ROSTER ISSUES AT THIS POINT, (such as only 4 total SP on the roster) ... Contact Me

Free Agent adds will begin after Game 3 - a set time will be given.
The way it will work is once Game 3 is played, I will open up Free Agency. Any attempts to add a player will be put on Hold through Waivers. Then I will wait 24 hours to Sim Game 4, at this time the Waiver claims should process by order of the previous season's standings (same as all the drafts).

Teams will be limited to 2 player adds through the Waivers period.

After that I will turn off Waivers so the Adds will be immediate.

Drops will be allowed after Game 10

*** Free Agent Adds will be turned off for the Playoffs to Lock in rosters - Once the World Series is completed, and before we move into the off season, there will be a small window to add Free Agents to sign for the next season.

If you'd like to make more complicated deals with another owner (i.e. including salary money for a current or future season, or splitting a cost of a contract) this can be done with Commissioner assistance. If you can get a deal worked out, let me know what is required and I'll handle the transaction. I'm sure this will be rare, but wanted to leave it open as an option.

*** World Series Champion will pick last in every draft round.

SLUMP BUSTERS:
20 days maximum - should be about 120 games

SIM SCHEDULE:
4hrs between games during Regular Season once User Sims are turned on. I will sim multiple games at times to keep things moving along.

6hrs between games during Playoffs.

*** 1 Day off will be granted after games 30, 60, 120, 150, 162 and between each round of playoffs. A 3 day break will be given after game 90.

PLAYOFFS:
Off Day granted before start of playoffs, and again before each round
All series are 7 games
Division Winners will get top 2 seeds in Each League, plus 2 Wild Card teams.
#1 vs #4 seed, #2 vs #3 seed.... better seed gets Home Field advantage (4 vs 3 games)
Each series is 2-3-2 format.
Best seed will receive home field advantage in following rounds.

WORLD SERIES:
team with best regular season record gets Home Field advantage
tie breaks for WS home field:
head to head
head to head run differential
overall run differential (incl playoffs)
playoff w/l record
playoff run differential
best record vs other league
most home runs
most strikeouts by pitchers... I guess

PLAYERS:
Players progress to peak at Age 28 and begin regression in their Age 32 season.

Progression type will be assigned by commissioner when a player is created. New Rookies (17yr olds) will be set as Classic for their season in the Rookie League. After that season I will adjust them before the next draft.

I may also make changes as players progress through their career in the best interests of the league. I will only do this to players that are Free Agents, and before the Supplemental Draft.

AWARDS:
After the regular season the award winners (MVP, Cy Young, RoY) will get an additional fire point added to their stats before the Playoffs begin.
All Star teams will also be chosen for each League.
A World Series MVP will also be awarded.

*** UPDATE - an MVP for each LCS will be chosen as well as awards for Gold Gloves by position, Silver Bats by position, Diamond Ace (5 best SP) and leaders for Avg, HR, RBI, Wins, K's

MVP and Cy Young will be chosen by the formula provided.
RoY eligibility is for 18yr olds, but others may be included per Commissioner discretion.

A Mojo Award will also be given to one player by the Commissioner - usually to bring attention to a certain statistical feat (good or bad, or just weird).

ACTIVITY:
Please stay active. I don't want to set a minimum limit of signed contracts plus tagged players, but I will remove owners who have apparently abandoned their team. This is in the best interest of the league, and I've noticed that openings will fill quickly.

If an owner will be unavailable for a while just let me know and I'll handle any minor maintenance in the meantime.

TIE BREAKERS (Division/Wild Cards/Seeding):
1 - 1 game playoff (Division), Head to Head matchups W/L (Wild Cards/Seeding)
2 - Total Runs Scored - Total Runs Allowed
3 - Record vs same League
4 - Runs Scored vs Runs Allowed in Head to Head
5 - 1 game playoff

FRANCHISE PLAYERS:
The intention of this Franchise Player designation is to have them remain tagged as such for the length of the contract, not switched every season like in the NFL. It's to promote continuity by establishing a 'face' for your team and freeing up money to build around them as well.

I will have to make all the changes for establishing Franchise players contracts due to possible edits, and the fact that the cost will remain flat unlike regular contracts.

These are the parameters for naming a Franchise Player.

- 1 player per team (hitter or pitcher)
- $20 salary for life of contract (minimum 10yrs - maximum 20yrs) *** (time served on team counts toward 10yr minimum)
- Franchise Player tag will remain in place until contract expires. Once the contract expires, any player currently on the roster can then be named Franchise Player at $20 salary. (same length of contract rules apply)
- Franchise Player can be traded on last year of contract, Franchise Tag will be removed
- ***Contract can be extended at any time, but not shortened - Player is essentially owned by the team until not re-signed***

OTHER FEATURES:

*** Players on expiring contracts when traded become a FA with new team. These players cannot be traded back to original team within the same season.

MILESTONE Rewards:
*** +2 Hits to Batter's Real Stats (20 game Hit Streak or Cycle).
***For a No-Hitter a pitcher will get 2 hits subtracted from their Real Stats
***For a Perfect Game a pitcher will get (-2) hits and (-2) walks from their Real Stats

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
