League Rules

1» NCAA-BC League Structure & Rules

A) Three divisions (North, Central & South)
B) 6 teams per division (unless due to popularity we can have league growth, OR if we
lose valued owners there might be a possibility of contraction)

2» Regular Season:

A) Since this is a tournament based league the "Regular Season" will only be 30
games long.
B) 20 games will be against divisional opponents.
Tie Breakers-
1. W-L Record
2. Run Differential
3. Runs Scored
4. Head-to-Head
C) 10 games will be in pool play.
D) During pool play teams will not be able to jump up or fall back from pool A,B or C. For example the #7 team will not be able to improve their rank and the #6 team will not drop their ranking any lower. During pool play teams will only move up and down within their pools.

Pool ''A'' > Teams ranked 1-6
Pool ''B'' > Teams ranked 7-12
Pool ''C'' > Teams ranked 13-18

These 10 games within your respective pool become the last 10 Regular
Season games.

E) 3 games will be simmed each day for the regular season (User sims, 8 hours apart).
F) The Regular season will be approx. 10 true calendar days.

G) Regular Season Breakdown
Games 1 -20 : Divisional 2 & 2 Home/Home Series with rivalries.
Games 21-30 : Pool Play (last chance to better your ranking heading into Championship Tourney).

3» Playoffs [NCAA-BC CHAMPIONSHIP]:

A) We will use a double elimination playoff format.
B) Seeding will be based on wins.
Tie Breakers-
1. W-L Record
2. Run Differential
3. Runs Scored
4. Head-to-Head
C) Seeds 15-18 will play a "play in" game. 2 winners will join the other 14 teams to make a 16 team double elimination tournament. 2 losers will be 18th and 17th draft odds
D) 2-3 Rounds will be simmed each day

4» Player Database:

A) League is made up of all fictional players ranging in age from 18-21
B) Players will be retired after progression is applied and they are 22 years old
C) Free Agency will close after the regular season and new incoming freshman will be
created as 18 year olds
D) The number of new players created by position could vary from year to year depending
on scarcity or overabundance.

5» Roster Rules:

A) Maximum roster size is 25
B) Non Active (Minor League) roster maximum of 5
C) Dropping players- each NCAA University can drop 2 players BEFORE the REGULAR SEASON BEGINS as a "transfer" to other universities not in the league. No drops allowed once the regular season has begun.
D) Every team can redshirt up to 2 18 y/o freshmen per year. (Listed as 17 y/o when
redshirted.)
E) Red Shirts cannot play in ANY games during their Red Shirt year. Red shirts can not play in the tournament. If they do they lose their redshirt status.
F) Each team is allowed 2 trades over the course of the regular season. Only 1 for 1 trades are allowed. This is NCAA not MLB, so trading is allowed but very limited. 21 Year olds may NOT be traded
G) 5 Man Rotations. No exceptions. If you have 5 men and 1 gets injured then you need to pick up an SP or use one that is redshirted

6» Recruitment Draft:

A) After the completion of each season, Each team will get 5 recruitment picks.

The following criteria will be used to create draft classes:
Draft Class:

18 Teams x 5 draft rounds = 90 players. 3 Round Supplemental draft plus the need for a few FA during the season (in case of emergency), so draft classes will be 140. This may be adjusted in future draft classes based on need.

Note: the ONLY editing done to the draft class will be to add approximately 2 catchers as ?plus? arms, approximately 3-5 OF as ?plus? arms, and the possibility that 2-5 players will have their speed adjusted. dWar may be slightly adjusted to make them more realistic )most will be under 2 dWar with a handful of exceptions per draft). That is all. Avg and OPS will not be touched. This is truly a ?Random? draft class, as you never know what kind of High School Seniors will be entering college.

B) The 1st THREE rounds of the draft order will be determined by when each team is knocked out of the playoffs. It is realistic as the better teams get the better players. After the season, draft odds will be given, with teams that finish higher having a better chance to gain the top pick. Draft lottery will be run after the tourney ends and order will be posted.

DRAFT ODDS- Teams that finish 1st to 18th will get the following "lottery balls" out of 1000: 250, 160, 115, 90, 75, 60, 47, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 5, 3
After much testing this was determined to be fair to the top finishing teams, but also give the lower teams a chance to improve their draft position.

The last 2 Rounds of the Incoming player draft will be a reverse order of the draft odds, with 2 separate supplemental drafts being run . Teams will have 24 hours to rank players, and teams will receive players even if they do not rank (NEW RULE 2074- this is now done via a 2nd slow draft).

Afterwards, there will be a 3 round Supplemental draft in the same reversed order in which teams will ONLY receive players if they pre-rank.

Free agency will be opened after the final supplemental draft for teams to pick up other players if needed until the end of the Regular Season.

7» Owner Expectations:

A) Owners will be removed from the team and possibly the league if their team's roster
doesn't meet the minimum requirement of 11 position players and 9 pitchers, by
Spring Training. If the minimum player requirement isn't met, and the owner is
dropped, the commish will assign a free agent to the applicable
teams, in order to get them to the minimum requirements, and will set a default
lineup, until such time that a new owner takes over the team.
B) Owners will be removed from the team and possibly the league, if there are more than
1 NA's in your starting lineups by opening day (either vs. RHP or LHP). See the My
Team...Lineup link. NA means you don't have a DH or fielding position filled and the
computer has chosen someone to put in the batting order for you.
C) Owners will be removed from their teams if they do not log in for over a week.
