Retirement and Progression
Rookie Draft

Imports:
Players imported will have AB and IP set to the new min of at least 400AB, 150IP for SP and 35IP for RP and will be done by doubling stats or converting to a 162g season when doubling isnt available. Players may be slightly lower then 400AB only when doubling would take them over 700AB(carry overed players are the exception) For import of initial rosters the min is 125AB, 35IP and for rookie classes it is 125AB, 35IP and 85IP.
Budget:
The budget will be $300. You can go over at any point in the offseason, just make sure it's back down before Opening Day.
Being over budget exists as a significant advantage. It is plainly unfair to be over budget . Consequences of being overbudget: first round pick and top ranked player cut from the team to get under budget .
Rosters:
40 man roster: 25 majors/15 minors. If your team is over on players on Opening Day, you will lose players you may have wanted to keep plus face penalties. 5 man pitching rotation. Majors- all players signed or on expiring contracts. Rookies will have tags removed once they play a regular season game or their age-26 season, so they will be playing on an expiring contract with the option to sign them or you lose them.
Contracts:
Rookies must be signed for next year if they are 26y/o or have played in a game. This is an honor code situation. It is hard to manually check every single player tagged, so please let me know if anybody has a rookie tagged that isn't supposed to be tagged. You can sign someone for up to 10 years, and extend the using the "Sign this Player" on the Player's card if they have an expiring contract (single $ after their name).
Voiding of Contracts for New Owner:
UNWINDING CONTRACTS --- Within the first 10 calendar days of joining the league, new owners will be able to exit 5 bad contracts by previous owners. We don't want to hinder new owners with sins from the past.
Real Stats Year:
You may select a player's real stats for each season as it starts. For instance, a player imported in 2010 will have their real 2010 stats. Those stats will then progress or regress or stay unchanged depending on their age. Before and at the beginning of the 2011 season you may elect to switch to that player's real 2011 statistics. Any position changes that result will remain in effect. As 2012 starts you may select their 2012 stats, and so on. The choice is yours. In any season batters must have at least 300 at bats; relief pitchers must have 35 innings pitched and starters must have 150 innings pitched to be eligible to have season stats changed. *IMPORTANT* I cannot undo it if a players stats are switched and dont meet the min. If it is done, I will change the players stats to the previous stats before progression that is listed. If that is not available the stats will be changed to the closest season with the minimums met. This will possibly drastically drop your players stats so be very cautious when changing stats that they meet the min and are playing the postion you want in that given season.
Players that are in the decline age group will be adjusted accordingly.
Free Agency:
Trial free agency format for year 2012:
Two rounds with all players available for bidding. Minimum 1 year, maximum 10 years. First round bids are published after first round deadline for all to see. First round bids carry over to round two. Leading bids from round one can be upped by initial bidder but if no improved bids come from competing bidders then the first round bid becomes winning bid. Anyone can bid on players from first round bidding.
Please still send in bids same sequence: position name bid . For example: 3b Jim Doe $16/3=$48. No line spaces between bids.
Will be 2 rounds and blind bids send to Commissioner. The commissioner will send his teams and potentially unowned bids before free agency opens to another owner.
-Max 10 years and $99 per season
-Min $25 total bid first round
-Please send bids in the following format ex. 1b Albert Pujols $5/5=$25.
In the event of a tie, the owners who submitted bids will have a chance to submit a one time bid and the larger bid wins. If still tied the first that submitted their bid wins.
- Theres no $0/1 type bids, so it must be a min $1/1 and a max of $99/10
Trades:
No limit on trades. Can trade draft picks. Both owners must contact the commissioner if the trade involves picks.
Position Changes:
Owners may request one position change between primary and secondary positions during the off-season. If a player's secondary position is IF then the request can be to move them to 1B, 2B, 3B or SS.
Progression and Retirement:
Players progress until 28, regress at 32. Retirement will be at age 37 if unsigned after free agency.
Once a player reaches 100R overall or offensively, as well as pitchers. They will be assigned an F potential. Once the player turns 31 they will be reassigned a C potential.
Double Progression:
On approximately day 100 all stars will be selected, during this time sims will be paused for roughly 48 hours.
- For a player to qualify for double progression, they must be a rookie and qualify for a tag which means they are 26yo and younger and never played in a game. They must also have an offensive or overall ranking under 85R..meaning must be 84 or less.
- Once the break in announced, owners must move players that dont qualify up to the majors(rosters will be expanded to accommodate the increase)
- Once this is done, owners can message me letting me know their team is ready for double progression. Once I progress the players, I'll notify the owner and they can move players back into to minors
- If I'm not notified and the 48 hours passes, your team will not get double progression. NOTE if you are going to be away and not able to be around, you can email me before hand and I will make the adjustments for you but you have to inform me before day 100.
-After minor progressions have been run, players 26yo will have tags removed and will need to be signed to retain if not already done so.
Playoffs as per current MLB system and tiebreakers

Draft:
At least two rounds of all of the picks in that draft. If the 2010 season has just completed, the 2011 class will be imported. Picks may be traded up to three drafts in advance. If the draft pool is large enough the max number of rounds will be 3.
Rebooted players
These players were carried over when we returned to 1998. These players will be deleted from the league no later then the 2015 regardless of contract if they have not already been retired. This is so they can come back in when there draft season comes up.

Tanking and Inactivity:
Just don't tank and stay active. Repeated invalid lineups or rosters over the max will result in banishment.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
