League Rules
League rules60's Double Team league
1. Basic Pitch: beginning with 1962, league members will draft two teams, merge them into one, and receive both teams’ imports going forward.
It is a non-contract league.
Members will have one team in the league, which, again, is comprised of two major league franchises.
You team name will be as follows: city of your American League team and nickname of your National League team. For example, Cleveland Dodgers. The logo will be of the National League team.
2. How are players acquired?
You get all the players on your drafted teams in the beginning year with 35 IP and 125 AB. You will also get both team’s imports with 35 IP and 125 AB. Duplicates will be allowed in the first year, but not in ensuing years.
ANY ISSUE ABOUT WHICH TEAM A PLAYER BELONGS ON MUST BE RAISED PRIOR TO THE FIRST GAME, OR THE RIGHT TO APPEAL IS WAIVED. Once a player “suits up” for a game, he belongs to that team.
3. Updating personnel:
Unpredictable progression. 28 - 32 is the plateau. Regression should begin at 32.
Trades will be allowed, since we will all be playing with the same season(s).
Free agents/waivers will exist, in place of a draft. These will run beginning on day 1, so rosters must be at limits (or below) before game 1. The Commissioner is empowered to make those before Game 1, if necessary.
4. League set up, number of games, rotation size, injury length, and roster size:
There would be 154 games. A 5-man rotation will be used. Injuries will max at 5 for an everyday player, and 8 for a pitcher.
26/40 (26/14) will be the roster size.
5. Playoffs: 4 top teams make the playoffs, but division winners make it regardless of record. The best record faces the fourth, second faces third. The winners of those best of 7 series advance to the Series, which is also best of 7.
If teams tie for a playoff spot:
Tie breakers are 1) Head to head results. 2) Point differential
General rules:
Each offseason, you can switch a SP to RP, or a RP to a SP, but stamina will remain. No changes after first pitch.
You can switch a player’s primary and secondary positions if they played 50% or more games THAT season at their secondary position, or at least 25% of their games for their career at their secondary position.
You can switch a DH to his secondary position, as long as he has a fielding percentage.
Off season duties:
Unpredictable progression. Age range: 28 - 32
Imports: You get all the imports from the next season that are not already in the league (35 IP/125 AB minimum)
2 Stat changes per season per owner
Cuts to a certain roster limit. 26 Major league, 14 minor league.
Free agents retire at 35
The commish reserves the right to create new rules as necessary to deal with problems as they arise.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
