League Rules
Welcome to March Madness: Road to the Final Four!
Commissioner: jim2miller
EXPECTATION for COACHES
- It is expected and required that all coaches be active in this league. Extended dormant periods will lead to removal from the league. If you know your not going be around for a while, message the commissioner and let him know.
- It is expected that teams try to compete to win. Teams which 'tank' by putting good players on the bench (or in the wrong position) could lead to removal from the league. Tanking results in a draft disadvantage.
- Commissioner will run teams that are not being actively managed.
- Commissioner reserves the right to make improvements to non-competitive teams.
- Users are allowed multiple teams, but not within the same conference.

FRESHMAN DRAFT
The freshman draft will consist of 3 rounds.
The final four teams from the previous season pick 1-4 with the champion first and the runner up second.
The third pick is the team who lost to the champion in the semi-final and the remaining final four participant picks fourth.
Blue Blood teams will be prioritized next with their order based on their record the previous season.
Cinderella teams are positioned with the last eight picks in the round.
Cinderella teams do not pick in round 1, their picks are traded to Blue Blood teams (in round 1 only).
Blue Blood teams trade their second round picks to the Cinderella teams.
Following round 1, the draft order is flipped.
ROSTER BACKFILL
Supplemental drafts will be used to get each team to fourteen players if necessary.
REDSHIRTS
Each team is permitted to redshirt one player per season. Players can only be redshirted once in their career. Redshirt players are declared after the season. Players are ineligible for a redshirt if they play more than 100 minutes that season.
PLAYER UPGRADES
Prior to each post season a lottery will be held to decide what upgrades are available. Teams will be awarded one upgrade for the following:
1. Winning conference tournament.
2. Reaching the sweet 16.
3. Cinderella teams earn an upgrade for each win in the tournament of 64.
4. Upgrades do not carry over to multiple seasons and must be spent or will be lost.

COACHING JOBS
Blue Blood programs demand Blue Blood results.
Blue blood coaches can be fired at the end of their contract. They can renew their contract for 3 seasons by winning their conference tournament or reaching the final four. Coaches can never have more than three seasons of guaranteed contracts at any given time (however a coach could theoretically coach forever by winning their conference or reaching the final four once every three seasons).
EARLY DRAFT ENTRY
1. Players who finish within 20 percent of the MVP leader in MVP points will graduate that season regardless of their current class. This is limited to no more than ten players.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Revisions
1. 12/31/2024 New league
2. 3/4/2025 added redshirt policy
3. 5/6/2025 blue bloods give 2nd round picks to Cinderella teams instead of 3rd and consolidated redshirt credit and potential credit into a coaches credit. Clarified coaching hot seat for blue bloods #2
4. 10/4/2025 removed coach credit and added redshirt option for each team. Added lottery for conference championship, sweet sixteen, Cinderella wins. Dropped early draft from 25 percent to 20 percent. Note, had to revise redshirt because there is no way to set a player to 'days off needed' setting.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
