League Rules
This is a NO DRAMA/ NO BS league, trash talk is okay, just don't get ugly.CONDUCT: All owners are expected to log in at least once a week. Owners are expected to perform duties of a owner, drop players if needed, set lineups etc.
Spring Training: No spring training in this league.
Regular Season: Regular season is 162 games.
Budgets: Every team gets a $135 budget.
Rosters: Rosters will be 26/5 during regular season.
Keepers: You are allowed 31 keepers per the December 2024 poll (Previously 35, April 14, 2021 poll).
Rotation: Five-man rotation
Post Season: Two wildcards. Worst record plays top division winner. Best wild card record plays the other division winner. This will be a five-game series.
Championship Series between the two above winners will be a seven-game series.
World Series between American and National league winners will be a best of 7 series.
Progression/advancement of contracts: Will be done after the WS. Players progress until age 28,stay at the same level for their 29th through 32nd years and then start to regress as they turn 33.
You must sign any player that you wish to keep. Otherwise, they will drop into the pool with the advancement of contracts. After advancement, owners may release any zero year players ($) on their roster, at any time. They must notify the commissioner of their wish to do so. I will delete the contract so that you may drop them.
NEW (starting with the 1988-89 offseason): ) ANY $$ player on your roster that no longer has real life season's left (current season and beyond) may now be dropped at any time. Send the name(s) and I will delete the contract so that you may drop them.
If you have signed a new import who is 25 years of age or less, you may request additional years be added if you signed them for the full ten years. The maximums are listed below:
25 years: up to 11 years
24 years: up to 12 years
23 years: up to 13 years
22 years: up to 14 years
21 years or less: up to 15 years
If you see this after advancement, you may still make the change but subtract one year from the maximum total (if you plan to max).
Extensions: All unsigned players will go into the free agent pool with the advancement of contracts. This league will no longer allow expiring contracts to be extended (effective 1986-87).
Franchise players (added with the 1987 season to offset the loss of extensions)
Each team may select one franchise hitter and one franchise pitcher. Only currently rostered players that played for that team at any point during their real life career may be considered. At this time, there is no limit to how often an owner can change their selections (subject to owners' discussion). However, any franchise player on their last year when selected ($) will have to be given a new contract or be released with advancement. For the upcoming season, the player must have at least a one year contract.
Owners should endeavor to stay within budget. However, going over may happen from time to time. In order to keep the spirit of the rules, owners can have certain salaries adjusted by the commissioner. The total amount of any contract MUST be maintained, or be higher than the original contract amount. For example, if you have a player on a $4/4 contract, you could adjust this to $1, $3, $5, $7 so that the adjustment is manageable within PC's system.
ALLOWANCE ADDED APRIL 2, 2022:
Owners may request real stat changes for the coming season.
TWO PLAYERS maximum per season
MINIMUMS: 400 at bats / 150 innings for starters / 50 innings for relievers
Prospects: No prospects in this league.
Imports: Every off season players that are on your next year's roster, but not already in league, will be imported.
Import minimums are 200 at bats/100 innings (starting pitchers)/25 innings (relievers). I usually import at 90% of minimum. If you get a player under these minimums, and prefer not to have them, message and I will delete them.
All relievers under 40 innings pitched will have their stats doubled or edited.
DRAFT: We will hold three rounds. The first round is slow. The second and third rounds are timed (eight-hour clock). Owners should prerank and notify the commissioner if they wish to have their list used (commissioner's tools). If there are no preranked players, the team will be skipped during the second and third rounds of the draft.
Alternatively, in lieu of a draft, owners may elect to run three rounds of waivers over a day and a half or three days.
If owners feel additional rounds are needed, we can use waivers prior to the season. Players acquired through waivers do not need to be signed.
Drops will be OFF until the draft completely ends to avoid players being added back to lists after they were dropped.
More rules will be added as needed.
Discontinued rules:
RULE ADJUSTMENT (1973) with revisions in 1979 and 1980:
LIMITED EXTENSION OF EXPIRING CONTRACTS.
Owners may extend the contract of TWO players whose contracts are expiring [ZERO YEAR PLAYERS ($)]. The request must be made before the advancement of contracts. The maximum extension is three years. Since PC does not account for the zero year in a team's budget and since the team has already received that freebie, the final year of the extension will be accounted for by reducing the team's annual budget by an amount equal to the salary. This amount will be restored after the advancement of contracts the following off-season. DISCONTINUED after the 1986 season.
EXTENDED PLAYERS MAY BE DROPPED DURING THEIR FINAL YEAR ($) BUT THE BUDGET WILL REMAIN REDUCED.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
