League Rules
The United States Basketball Association est. 2000The United States Basketball Association is made up of sixteen (16) teams split into two (2) conferences —
🎖️Eastern Conference & 🚾 Western Conference.
REGULAR SEASON
The regular season will consist of sixty-seven (67) games. Each team will play a total of four (4) games against every team in the opposite conference, and a total of five (5) games against conference opponents.
Regular Season Sims will be set at a Daily Sim/24hr Sim.
POST-SEASON
At the conclusion of the regular season, the top four (4) teams in each conference, eight (8) total teams, will make the USBA Playoffs. The bracket will be split between conferences and all series will be seven (7) game series with a home/away 2-2-1-1-1 format.
Post-Season Sims will be set at a Daily Sim/24hr Sim.
*INAUGURAL DRAFT
The league will begin with a pool of players from players from the 2000 season. The top 75-100 players from each position that season (PG, SG, SF, PF, C) have been imported to select from.
The Inaugural 2000 Draft will be a 10 Round Snake Format.
Players drafted in the First Round (1st Round) will receive a $15x2yr contract.
Players drafted in the Second Round - Fifth Round (2nd Round - 5th Round) will receive a $10x2yr contract.
Players drafted between the Sixth Round - Tenth Round (6th Round - 10th Round) will receive a $5x1yr contract.
**When the draft concludes, teams then have the option to fill out their remaining five (5) roster spots with the available players in Free Agency that did not get drafted in the inaugural ten (10) rounds.
PLAYERS & ROSTERS
Each USBA roster can carry a max of fifteen (15) players with a max of twelve (12) active players.
All players will have a "Classic" progression.
Players will progress through age 28, and will begin to regress at age 32.
Players will retire from the Association at age 40, unless rostered by team.
CONTRACTS
When negotiating with a player in Free Agency or a player after their Rookie Contract, you can offer the player a max of 4 years at the price of their request. There are no set "max contracts" to offer/tag players with. It is the franchise's responsibility to sign and resign players based on their skill and ask while juggling the Salary Cap.
Contract AAV will not increase or decrease year over year in the USBA. The dollar amount you sign that player for will be locked into that amount for the duration of the contract.
CONTRACT BUYOUTS
If you're ever up against the cap and have to make room, or need to clear up a roster spot, you can buyout a player on your roster.
You can ONLY buy a player out of his contract if he is in the last year of his contract. If he has years left on his contract, he CANNOT be bought out.
In buying out a player, he will be removed from your roster and the franchise will be responsible for half of the contract amount.
EX: You have $10 Cap Room and want to make more room. You would like to buyout 'Player A' who is in the last year of his contract making $20. You can choose to buy him out and free up an additional $10 for a total of $20 in Cap Room.
*In reference to $100 Salary Cap
**Team Salary Spent - (Half of Contract Amount) = $80 / $20 available *In reference to $100 Salary Cap
**$90 - $10 = $80 / $20 available *In reference to $100 Salary Cap
ROOKIE CONTRACTS
Eight (8) teams will not make the playoffs. These top eight (8) draft slots will be considered the USBA Lottery Picks.
Lottery Draft Picks will receive a $10x4yr contract.
Players drafted in the First Round (1st Round) Picks Nine (9) through Sixteen (16) will receive a $5x4yr contract.
Players drafted in the Second Round (2nd Round) will receive a $2x2yr contract.
DRAFT
The eight (8) teams that do not make the playoffs have the Lottery Picks. The draft order of the top eight (8) picks is determined by record. There will be no ping pong balls or jeopardy wheel in the USBA — worst-to-first format.
Picks 9-16, the playoff teams' draft position, will be determined by the outcome of the playoffs — not regular season record.
FREE AGENCY
Teams are allowed to fill out their roster to a max of 15 players.
As long as teams are under the allowed Salary Cap, you can sign players that appear in Free Agency.
Free Agency will CLOSE on the same day as the Trade Deadline and will reopen at the conclusion of the post-season.
*There will be no bidding or waiting period. If a player is available and you can make it work with your salary cap, he is free game to sign.
TRADES & TRADE DEADLINE
Teams are allowed up to ten (10) trades per season.
Both teams must consider the Salary Cap when completing a trade.
Future Draft Picks ARE AVAILABLE to trade. **We will keep track of traded future picks on the home page
DRAFT PROSPECTS
The league will begin with players from the 2000 season for the Inaugural 2000 USBA Draft. Progressing forward, the 2001 Draft will have new players from the 2001 Rookie Class. The 2002 Draft will have new players from the 2002 Rookie Class. This will repeat every season and take us into the "future".
EX: Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Lebron James will be in the 2003 Draft, as they were rookies in the 2003 season.
PLAYER STAT CHANGE
Teams DO have the ability to change players' stat year. However, you will only be able to change a players' stat year to the current year of the league that we are in. In our 2001 season, you will be able to change a players' stats to 2001, but you cannot change his stats to a different year.
Teams will ONLY be able to make these stat changes in the offseason every year. When the post-season concludes and awards are announced, player progressions will run and the ability to change players' stats will be enabled. The period in which you can change stats will last throughout the draft and offseason free agency.
EX: When Michael Jordan returns in 2002, you can sign Michael and he'll have his 2002 stats. You cannot change his stats to a season from the 90's. In 2003 you can change him to his 2003 stats, but you cannot change to any other year.
EX: If you draft Lebron in 2003, you have to use Lebron's 2003 stats for that season. You cannot change his stats to a different season -- say, 2009 for example -- until we are in the year 2009.
