League Rules
League RulesWelcome to College Football Mid Major Mania!
Commissioner: jim2miller
EXPECTATION for COACHES
- It is expected and required that all coaches be active in this league. Extended dormant periods will lead to removal from the league. If you know your not going be around for a while, message the commissioner and let him know.
- It is expected that teams try to compete to win. Teams which 'tank' by putting good players on the bench (or in the wrong position) could lead to removal from the league.
- Commissioner will run teams that are not being actively managed.
- Commissioner reserves the right to make improvements to uncompetitive teams.
- Users are allowed multiple teams, but not within the same conference. Users are limited to one mid major team.
SEASON
14 game regular season
16 team playoffs
AWARDS
Granted at end of regular season:
All American awards (aka all pro)
Heisman (MVP)
Defensive Player of Year (Chuck Bednarik Award)
PLAYOFFS
Adjusted power rankings (APR) are calculated by reducing the power index value by five points for each loss.
The top sixteen teams as determined by APR advance to the top tier playoffs to compete for the national championship.
The next sixteen teams as determined by APR advance to the second tier playoffs to compete for the Commissioner Cup.
OFF SEASON and ROSTER MANAGEMENT
GRADUATION
Players graduate at age 22.
PROGRESSION
Will be used each off season and players will age one year.
FRESHMEN
Each season add the following 18 year olds:
15 K, P
30 C, TE
50 G, T, QB
70 RB, DE, DT, S, CB
80 WR and LB
May add more or use less players as needed.
All freshman enter the league with U potential. The model for players is based on 1990 to present players with fictional names.
RECRUITING
The National Champion drafts first and the National Runner Up drafts second.
The remaining draft order is based on the previous season team records as sorted by Pennant Chase.
Teams from the AAC, MAC, Mountain West, and Sun Belt (Mid Majors) do not draft in the first two rounds, those picks are skipped.
Team records will include playoffs.
Draft order is reversed every round (snake style).
FINAL RECRUITING
Players will be available after drafts via the drop/add process. Roster limit is 45.
TRANSFER PORTAL
Player hoarding may result in loss of players. Commissioner may remove the bottom rated AV players and place them in a waiver process if a team has more than:
Four QB, TE, C, P, K
Eight RB, G, T, CB, DE, DT, S
Twelve WR, LB
Waiver order is the most recent ending draft order (worst to first).
Players can only be claimed if they would be a top two player at that position based on AV.
Players under redshirt protection do not count in team totals.
SIGNING DAY
Players can be signed until week 8, when Adds are turned off.
PLAYOFF PAYOFF
Teams that made the second tier playoff bracket the previous season can upgrade one newly drafted freshman to A potential status or can redshirt one newly drafted freshman.
Teams that made the top tier playoff bracket the previous season can upgrade one newly drafted freshman to S potential status or can redshirt one newly drafted freshman.
Revisions
1. New college league
2. (7/27/2025) Changed draft, instead of sending mid major picks to major teams in round 1 and 2, these are now skipped picks.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
