League Rules
Mix and Match RulesWe use only original franchises.
Ten teams. Each owner picks their favorite franchise and chooses two decades. 1920s through 2010s. One decade used for the pitching staff and the other for the hitters. Everybody starts with the zero year and gets imports during the successive seasons, although each season they have to choose different decades.
So say I pick the 1920 Pirates pitchers and 1960 Pirates hitters. The next year, I have to pick different decades for imports, so maybe I pick 1951 pitchers and 1921 hitters. Once I pick both 1920s options, that decade would be out of play until all decades have been used (see below for procedure). Remember, you must choose a different decade each season for your hitting and pitching.
Years under 140 games will not be in play.
1981, 1994 and 2020
We are using the two's years the first season. 1922, 1932,1942,1952,1962,1972,1982,1992,2002 and 2012. Please make your selections from these options.
Franchise Player: Each owner will be able to draft two franchise players. One pitcher and one position player. These players will be your until they retire or you want to change them. You must keep a franchise player for 5 years before you can drop him and make another selection. The franchise players must be on your team of the year you want to draft him. You can't draft a franchise player that has NOT player for your team. You may not trade these franchise players. Franchise players for season one must come from your teams history from 1901 to 1919 for the first 5 season.
If you should draft your franchise player in one of your import season, you will have the option to select another player to replace the one you get in a imported year. You would have to make your selections from the franchise decade being used at that time.
Pitching Rotation: For season 1 and 2 we will use a four man rotation. In season 3, we will move to a five man rotation.
There are no contracts, FA's or supplemental draft.
Unpredictable progression will be used in this league. Player progress until age 29 and start regression at the age of 33. Stats will be adjusted before progression to 400 at bats / 150 innings for starters / 75 innings for relievers. We will get as close as we can to those numbers when doubling stats.
No injury will not be used in this league. We will use the fatigue option.
Five AL and five NL teams. New owners can replace a team but only in a league where there is an opening. Owners with new franchises can start fresh but on the same year line as everyone else.
Import Position Players must have at least 90AB, SP need 67IP and RP need 22IP to be eligible.
Position Changes: You may change any SP to RP. If the SP you are change from SP to RP due to not enough IP, this player may be mover back to a SP as soon as his IP reach the minimum for a SP.
Duplicate Players: Duplicate players will be allowed in this league, but not on the same team. No duplicate player can share the same historical season. One player, one year with the exception of Babe Ruth who in 1914 to 1919 he pitched and was a starting position player too. The same would happen with Shohei Ohtani. If there are other players in baseball history, they must meet the minimum requirements for import for those positions.
Play-offs. The top 8 teams will move into the play-offs. Where there are ties, the team with the best team differential get the higher seed. They will be seated 1-8, with the division winners being seeded 1 and 2. Division winners will always be the higher seed in any match up. All play-off series will use the 2-3-2 format.
Allstars: Granted at day 100. All teams given three days rest.
Awards Granted: MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, Rookie Pitcher of the Year, Best Defensive Player, Defensive Nightmare, Far from Cy Young, and Least Valuable Player
Procedure:
Before we get to far into imports guys, keep in mind the following.
If you pick a decade now for hitting, that decade is removed from consideration for hitting until all other decade possibilities have been chosen. The same applies for pitching.
Once all decades have cycled through, you may choose a decade again, but only a year that has not been chosen previously.
So say I picked 1930 hitting. I would not be able to use the 30s again for hitting until all other decades had been used for hitting. Once that times comes, I may not choose 1930 again. 1931 to 1939 would be available depending on what year we are in.
Hypothetical example:
Season 1: 1930
Season 2: 2021
Season 3: 1972
Season 4: 2013
Season 5: 1954
Season 6: 1995
Season 7: 2006
Season 8: 1987
Season 9: 1968
Season 10: 1929
Season 11: 1940 END OF DECADE CYCLE
Season 12: 1961 Start of new decade cycle
Season 13: 1932
and so on....
2021 does not have to be taken in our season two. You may wait until we cycle through to the ones again. Doing so would end your decade cycle at season ten.
New owners who change the league team would begin a new cycle for themselves but would still follow the season we are in. New owners who keep the team that is currently in league must continue as if they were the original owner.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
