League Rules
Professional Baseball - Rewritten will start with 16 teams from the National League, American Association, and Union Association ranging from 1876 to 1886. Historical players will be used for this league and the league will use REAL progression. The league will start in the pre-modern era with the National League and American Association.
SCHEDULE
140 game regular season ( 70 home & 70 away). The schedule will change when we hit the 20th century when MBL becomes official with AL & NL. Once we hit the year when I can import official schedules like we are currently using (we are currently using a future schedule with 16 teams), our schedules will follow along with history at that point, though teams names could be different. The league will expand when the MLB expanded to allow us to continue to use the import schedule feature.
Trade deadline day 90
PLAYOFFS
The top 2 teams from the National League will play each other in a best of 7 series.
The top 2 teams from the American Association will play each other in a best of 7 series.
The winners from the National League Championship series and the American Association Championship series will face off in the World Series
ROSTERS
Initial rosters consist of players from teams ranging from 1876 to 1886. Whole teams were imported and placed on the leagues starting teams. Players were randomly removed from teams with an excess and placed on teams with a shortage to give the majority of team 22 positional players and 11 pitchers.
There are barely any RP in PC up to the 1940s. Each offseason before the next season start, the commish will convert half of the SP to RP. SP with the fewest IP in real life will be those who are converted to RP
CONTRACTS
40 players can be signed to contracts (26 active & 14 non-active)the
Players will be signed to contracts via the pennant chase contract feature. Max contract is 5 years and players CAN be resigned when their contracts expire. Base salaries are set to the minimum with no raises. This will change over time as base salary will increase and raises will be implemented.
ROOKIES
Rookies and rookie drafts will be handled in a unique fashion. There will be no traditional rookie drafts. Instead teams will be drafting all rookies from a specific team and the number of rookies on each team will vary, especially when there is a new franchise that enters the league. So following our initial season, teams will be ranked from worst to best based on that seasons standings, world series champions pick last and runner up second last otherwise teams based on reverse standings. The rookies from the following 1886 teams (NY Metropolitans, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Cowboys, New York Giants) will be imported and separated. Rookies from twelve 1887 teams also be imported and separated, bringing the total of teams imported to 16.
For the draft teams will then pick which team the would like to draft and they will receive all the rookies from that teams roster.
TEAM CHANGE
Each offseason, teams may have the option to relocate or change their team name. This will be based on the Teams rookies that they draft and the league that they play in. If a National League team drafts players from a national league team then they will have the option to change their current team to the team that they drafted.
A couple examples in the first offseason would be if a team in the American Association we to draft the 1886 Baltimore Orioles, they would have the option of changing their team name to the Baltimore Orioles. A National League team drafting the 1886 New York Giants would have the option to change their team name to New York Giants.
Two restrictions: The team you change to must be from the same league
Only one team from each city will be allowed in each league
Tie Breakers
All tie breakers will be decided be head to head series winner, followed by run differential, followed by PC power rankings.
SALARY CAP
The initial salary cap will be set at the highest team salary once all contracts have been signed prior to the start of the inaugural season. The salary CAP will increase by 5% when 8 or more teams are within 2% of the CAP ceiling. Player raises and base rates will also increase over time. The salary cap will retract by 5% if there are zero teams within 2% of the the cap ceiling,
FREE AGENTS
Free Agency will be handled through a supplemental draft. The bigger Free Agents tend to go to the competitive teams so the first round order will be based on competitiveness.
For the 1st round: The World Series Champion will select first overall followed by the runner up, The rest of the first round will be based on that seasons standings. Tie breakers will be based on tie breaker rules above.
Remaining Free Agent Rounds: draft order will be random (using the pennant chase random function) to fill out rosters. Teams will then have the opportunity to sign the free agents to contracts via PC contract feature.
