Bush League - Season 4

League Rules

Welcome to the Bush League!

This is a league for players who did not have long careers in MLB, so they're relegated to the Bush League. Some of them had good numbers but short careers, but most of them had short, mediocre careers or short, dismal careers. This league gives them a chance to shine against others in the same circumstance.

Player Eligibility:

Hitters have to have:
500 ABs or less in their MLB Career

Pitchers have to have:
200 IPs or less in their MLB Career

TEAMS - 16 Teams. Names have been largely drawn from real life minor league or independent league teams, although some of them have been completely made up by the Commish with the rationale that if these weren't REAL team names, they certainly should have been. Team names cannot be changed, unless there are incredible, extenuating, life-and-death circumstances. Even then - probably not.

The Basics:
162 Game Schedule
8 Teams make the Playoffs
- Division Winners plus 4 Wildcards
- Division Winners automatically get top 4 seeds
- All Playoff Series Best of 7 with a 2-3-2 Format
5-Man Starting Rotation
4 SIMS per day, approximately once every 6 hours
No Progressions. But there WILL be regressions, starting at Age 39

Fatigue: Off
Slump Buster: Off
Fire: Off
Injuries - Players - 20 Max / Pitchers - 25 Max
Ballpark Dimension Changes: No Big Advantage/Big Disadvantage. You can only use Mild or None. And no changes during the season
Draft - All players will be drafted by teams for the 1st Season (Snake-style draft for first 10 Rounds, then one-way draft style)
Season 1 Draft Order - The last shall be first (a special Commish-created formula using owners' real PC Winning %, number of rings, and number of PC games played will determine draft order)

Trades - On. Unlimited. No trading for draft picks
Trade Deadline - No trades after Day 140 (not Game 140, DAY 140)
Free Agency - On. Owners may drop and sign players throughout the season.
Changing Seasons - Off (players will stay with the season they were imported with for their whole career)

Roster Size - Major League Rosters - 24 / Minor League Rosters - 0 (will increase season by season)

Position Maximums - In the initial 24-Round Draft, owners may only choose two Catchers, and only 6 Starting Pitchers. These maximums will ensure that all owners have a chance to draft the catchers and SPs they'll need. After the draft is over, the maximums will be removed and owners are free to sign as many players from any position that they so choose, as long as they don't exceed the total roster amount of 24 players.

New Players - New players will be added to the league at the beginning of each new season. If you'd like a particular player to be added, message the Commish, and we can add him for the next season as long as he meets the minimum career AB/IP requirements. No active players allowed since they may end up exceeding the AB/IP Career totals.

Switching Positions: First of all, any DH who enters the league will automatically have his primary and secondary positions switched. Each team may request ONE position switch per off-season. Position switches will be limited to switching primary and secondary positions only. If the secondary position is "IF" (infield), then the owner may choose any infield position that the player actually played in that season. For example, a player who is marked 2B(IF), may be switched to SS(IF) but only if he actually played shortstop that season.

Drops before each season - Before the Supplemental Draft each season, every team will need to drop players in order to reach a maximum of 22 players on their roster. This number will increase each season for a yet-to-be-determined number of seasons.

No Mandatory Retirement of Players - Players' stats will begin to regress at Age 40, so they will get worse and worse the older they get, meaning that owners will likely want to retire them after they get too old and horrible.

Supplemental Draft - After each season, there will be a 3-round Supplemental Draft before the start of each season. Draft Order will be based on previous season's standings, worst picks first, etc. (not snake-style, just regular style, worst picks 1st in each round). If teams had identical records in the previous regular season, ties will be broken in this order - 1. Run Differential, 2. Head-to-Head match-up, 3. Total Runs Scored (less runs scored picks ahead of greater runs scored)

ALL-STAR BREAK: All-Star Game will be played after each team has played approximately 90 Games. 3 Days off will be granted. An actual All-Star Game will be simmed by the Commish (Wild West/Borderlands versus Middle Earth/Easterners). All teams will be represented. Results of the All-Star Game will be posted on the Home Page.

PLAYOFFS: Each division winner plus 4 wildcard teams will qualify for playoffs. Division winners will receive top 4 seeds regardless of record. Division winners seeded 1 to 4. Two days off after season will be granted. Day off between series and on travel days. Each series best of 7, using 2-3-2 format. In the 2nd Round, it will be strictly best record vs 4th best record and 2nd best vs 3rd best of the remaining 4 teams, regardless of whether they were a division winner or a wildcard team. Home field advantage for 2nd round and World Series is based on win-loss record, not on whether or not the team won a division.

TIEBREAKERS: If teams are tied for a playoff spot, the tie will be broken using Run Differential. If they have identical Run Differential, then the next tiebreakers are head-to-head record, followed by runs for. A one-game playoff will only be used to decide the final Wild Card spot (or spots if there is a 3-way tie or more).

No obvious tanking. This includes playing defensive players out of position, using a non-catcher at catcher, sitting better players in favor of weaker players, etc.

No politics, religion, or disrespecting other owners. Some good-natured ribbing in the chat box is encouraged and adds to the fun, but please don't cross the arbitrary line that exists in the Commissioner's head. Thanks!

This League is still a work in progress. More rules may be added/changed as we go.
Have Fun and Play Ball!

THAT'S SO BUSH LEAGUE!!!

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
