League Rules

1. ROSTERS are now flexible, so you can carry up to 26 players, with a maximum of 15 positional and 13 pitchers. You must have at least 11 positional players.

2. DRAFT: The draft will be 18 rounds, leaving most teams with 23 players. The remaining three can be picked up in free agency a day after the draft. If you can't make the draft, you can send a list for up to 5 picks, then the CPU will auto pick. If you take too long or step out of the draft, you will get a CPU auto-pick.

3. ROTATION: 5-man rotation is highly recommended, but it is no longer required. Keep in mind, tired pitchers are heavily penalized during the sim. Starters and relievers must remain in those roles. (Starters will be a last-resort out the pen.)

4. FIELDING POSITIONS: Each player has a primary position and secondary position. The player's real-life fielding PCT is applied for his primary position, and a reduced fielding PCT is used for his secondary position.

5. SANDBAGGING: Using a player outside his primary or secondary position results in a heavy penalty and high probability of errors. (This now applies even when the CPU has to sub a player, so you'll want to make sure your roster is balanced.)

6. CATCHER SANDBAGGING: The opposing team will now run, run, run when you sandbag at catcher. Keep in mind, if your catcher gets injured and is replaced, this penalty applies! So you may want to consider carrying a second catcher.

7. TRADES: With the new Trade Center, you no longer have to go through the commissioner to make a deal. But the commish will revert a trade if it is deemed unfair. If an excess of unfair trades goes through, the commish will implement a trade limit per team, so keep it fair! TRADE DEADLINE IS GAME 120.

8. TRADING PLAYERS UNDER CONTRACT: If you trade for a player under contract, your team inherits the contract. You are allowed to go over budget for the current season in a trade, but you will be forced to break contracts in the off-season if you are over budget for the next year. You'll suffer a 5-million budget penalty if your trades put you over budget for the next season. (In other words, be wary of trading for players who are signed for next season unless you can afford them.)

9. FREE AGENTS can be signed at any time before the roster deadline. If you are at your roster limit, you must drop a player first, then pick up the free agent. The free agent list will close several weeks before the end of the season. You will have plenty of warning before the free agent/trading deadline approaches. FREE AGENCY AND DROPS WILL TURN OFF AT GAME 120.

10. ADDING PLAYERS TO THE LEAGUE: Players from the history of baseball cannot be added to the free agent list after the draft has completed. If you want a player added, send your request before the draft.

11. CHANGING STATS: You can change a player's historic season as long as that player has not yet played in the current SBL season. THIS WILL TURN OFF AFTER GAME 10.

12. PLAYER CONTRACTS: Each team can spend 40-million per year to retain players. You can sign players for 1 or 2 years, but the second year will cost more. Once a player's contract is expired, he must return to the draft.

13. INJURIES: The CPU will auto-sub if you have not altered your lineup after an injury. Injuries can occur in the post-season, but injuries only last a maximum of two games.

14. PLAY-OFFS: There will be six PLAY-OFF teams. Three division winners, plus three wild cards. Top two division winners get first-round byes. The third division winner is the #3 seed.

15. SEEDING: New in 2024, we will NOT re-seed. The playoffs will be bracket-style.

16. TIE BREAKERS: Whenever possible, head-to-head season record will break ties, then run-differential. Lastly, PC Power Ranking will be used. In a three-way tie, PC Power Ranking will be used.

17. DAYS OFF: Three days off will be granted at mid-season. Two days off before playoffs begin. One day of in-between playoff rounds. Two days off before World Series.

18. PLAYOFF INJURIES/FATIGUE: These will continue as they do during the regular season, with some exceptions. Since we have a four-man rotation, each team is granted a day off after Game Four. Between series, teams will get at least one day's rest, depending on how long their series lasts. Before the World Series, all teams get at least two games rest.
