Highlights from Macon and Butte (the 5th and 6th Bush League All Star Games
Brooks Kieschnick had a good ASG but looks a bit bewildered as to why he's in the Bush League
ASG5 – Macon, Georgia
Macon, Georgia (the birthplace of Southern Rock, and also known as “Where Soul Lives”) was a musical adventure for the Bush League All Stars. The players and coaches were treated to tons of live music, from the airport, the bus ride to the ballpark, the pregame show, and throughout the game.
Tribute artists and bands entertained us with music from Macon throughout the game. The music was so great that I forget what happened during the game. I did find a newspaper the next morning which reported that the final score was MEENE (Middle Earth/East Northeast) 8, WWB (Wild West/Borderlands) 7. Sounds like a good game. Dane Sardinha was named the ASG MVP after going 1 for 3 with a 3-RBI double in the first inning.
Oh, I do remember that the home team came out strong with 6 runs in the first inning, but the visitors got 5 back in the top of the second. The home team got another run in the 7th for a 7-5 lead, but the visitors tied it up in the 8th with 2 runs of their own. Irving Falu walked it off in the bottom of the 9th with a double, scoring Mike Maksudian from second base.
With the win, the MEENEies now trail the overall All Star series 3-2. The Season 6 ASG will be played in Roswell, New Mexico. I’ll try to pay more attention to that one.
ASG6 – Roswell, New Mexico
As expected, the 6th Annual Bush League All Star Game in Roswell, New Mexico was like something out of the Twilight Zone.
As the stars and owners and special guests arrived, they were greeted by a trio of strange looking hosts. The three greeters looked a lot like Mork from Ork, Marvin Martian, and the Great Gazoo (from the Flintstones). The stars were given a tour of Roswell, and then chaperoned out to the middle of the desert where they saw strange and spectacular sights that they are not allowed to talk about due to National Security. Also, none of them would be able to talk about it even if they wanted to since, following the tour, the entire group had their memories of the past three hours wiped clean.
Back at the Coliseum, all manner of strange beings populated the seats, some looked like they were in costume, but others were just weird looking Roswellians who could easily pass for aliens.
Mork sang the National Anthem, while Marvin Martian threw out the first pitch.
Kip Young started for the home team and got them off to a good start, retiring the first three hitters he faced. In the bottom of the first, the WildWest-Borderlands squad got to starter Brian Dubois after he had retired the first two batters. The two-out rally started with a Randy Ruiz single and a Greg Pirkl RBI double. Brooks Kieschnick and Travis Metcalf then went deep with back-to-back home runs, giving the home team a quick 4-0 lead.
The second inning pretty much mirrored the first. Young came back out for a second inning and again retired the visitors, three up, three down. In the bottom of the second, Al DeVormer and Todd Haney hit back to back singles to start the inning, followed by a 2-run triple by Anderson Machado and a sac fly by Michael Ryan, making the score 7-0 after two.
It was all the home town heroes would need as they held off the MEENE team the rest of the way, limiting them to four runs on nine hits.
Kip Young was named the game’s MVP as he retired all seven batters he faced to start the game before finally being pulled in the 3rd inning.
With the victory, the WWB stars now lead the overall ALL STAR series 4 games to 2.
Following the game, the stars were given a tour of the International UFO Museum and Research Center. A total of 60 stars and owners went into the building, but only 58 came out. Chief Sockalexis and Buzz Arlett disappeared and were not on the flight home to their respective towns. They both did show up for their teams’ opening second half games, but both seem to have undergone some unexplained transformations.

Season 6 Pre-Season Schedule
1. Run Progressions - no actual progressions in this league - but there are regressions. Player stats stay the same until Age 39, then they begin to regress at 40. - doneAll teams need to cut their roster down to 26 before the 3-round draft. Cuts deadline is Saturday, February 14 at 9pm central time. After the cuts have been made, the 3-round draft will get your roster up to 29, which is one higher than last season. Hopefully this will allow some more flexibility for your roster this year. All 29 roster players will stay on your major league roster - no minors in this league.
Draft Order for the 3-Round Season 5 Draft

** REMINDER (when ranking and drafting) - Age matters in this league. Players start to regress after their Age 39 season. Happy Drafting!

Part 1 - 10 rounds - snake draft style
Part 2 - 14 rounds - one-way draft style
Once the clock starts (Sunday morning at 9am Central time):

Rounds 6-10 - 3 hours/pick

REMEMBER! Age matters in this league. No progressions, but after a player's age 39 season, he will begin to regress every year. So Chuck Hostetler (who is already 41) will start regressing after Season 1 and keep getting worse every year until you just can't stand the smell of him anymore.
Each team will be allowed to switch positions for one position player before Opening Day (see Rules page for more details).
Each team will have one player assigned with a Utility (UT) designation for his secondary position.

First Season Draft Order
The first Bush League Player Draft will go a long way in determining your team's future, and maybe also your personal future depending on how seriously you take this league (hopefully not too seriously!)The initial Player Draft will be 24 Rounds.
Draft order is based on "The Last Shall Be First" and will use the Commish's home-made formula which looks at each owners' real PC winning percentage, number of rings, and number of PC games played. This will give those of you who are terrible or mediocre at Baseball Sim Games a fighting chance against those of you who are awesome veterans. The Commish will choose last in the first round because that's just what good Commishes do (or so I've been told by good Commishes).
Draft Order (Final) (Ability to Rank Players has been turned on - Rank away)
