League Rules

NL Classic Rewind 2005

Teams: 12 Teams from National League beginning in 1980. Expansion in 1992 was decided by league poll.

Players: Teams started with 1980 rosters.
Some fringe/filler players have been added from AL to fill out rosters.
For duplicate players, player will be place on team they began 1980 with. No duplicates have been permitted in future seasons. Such players are added to the team they played for most during the import season.

Rosters: 26 majors 14 minors (in season, 40 players). We cut to 33 for the draft (effective 2004-05 offseason, previously 35, 2002-03 and 2003-04 offseasons)

Rookies: Each season teams will receive rookie imports.

When players are added from the American League, Brewers or Diamondbacks, they will be added to the pool or to their first league team. 125 AB and 35 IP minimum to be imported (50 AB and 25 IP prior to 2006). Players are not added every year, particularly when stat levels are above 90. Even when that is the case, owners may request certain players be added, provided the player does not have viable seasons coming with a league team, or that owner is the one who would receive the player (within three years). Final decision is made by the commissioner.

Strike adjusted AB/IP 1994 35/18 1995 44/22.

Progression: Classic progression to 28. Regression starts at 33.

Real Stat Levels: You can also switch to the current season's real stats each season provided the player meets the league minimums of 125 AB and 35 IP . Changes should be made by game 20.

The commissioner reserves the right to make common sense edits to low AB/IP players. This applies to both imports and real stat changes.

Stats: under 200/100/40 will be doubled

Playoffs: Each division winner plus 1 wildcard will qualify for playoffs. teams seeded 1 to 4 Each series will be best of seven. Days off will be granted before and between each series and travel day after game 2 and 5, and will be 2-3-2 format.

Sims on eight hour interval. User sim will be on. CPU sim will not be on.

Trades: maximum of 10 per season. Deadline day 130. The league will police itself. Each owner gets one appeal per season at which time it will be put to a vote.

Team Details: Owners can change logo and park dimensions before season.

Schedule: 162 games

Conduct: No whining!! No drama!! a little trash talk and please stay active.

Rotation: 5 man

Retirement: No players will be retired from teams. Only players in the free agent pool will be considered for retirement by the commissioner. Typically, these will be players who can no longer progress or who no longer have future real seasons available.

In order to help overcome previous inattentive ownership, NEW OWNERS may change progression year on up to three players. Progressions will be applied after the new player card is imported. For example, for 2003, if a previous owner missed a better stat card in 2001, two progressions would be made to the 2001 card to bring it current to 2003.

All-Star Game: Day 100. Three days off will be granted. The CPU will choose All Stars. Owners may suggest alternates. The maximum alternates allowed on the same team is two.

Injuries: Maximum 10 days for both players and pitchers

Fatigue: On

Position Changes: TWO SP to RP each season, ideally before season however I'm usually ok with allowing an exception. Beginning in 1988 each team allowed one secondary to primary position switch.

Being Active: My general guidelines when removing an owner are 5 days without logging on if you're new to PC, while I'll allow at least two weeks for more experienced owners.

More rules added as needed.

Suspended Rule
Rule 5 veteran Rule: Beginning after 1988 season after progression any player aged 30 or greater who hasn't accumulated stats in 2 previous seasons or has zero stats for career will be placed on rule 5 draft list. Special draft will be he held prior to supplemental draft. If player goes undrafted they'll be placed back on your team. Team drafting rule 5 player must keep player on major league roster entire season. Except in case of injury. I realize sometimes teams will hold veteran waiting for an upcoming season where they excel. Each owner is allowed 2 exemptions they must be filed with myself or Will prior to day 60 of current season. RULE SUSPENDED AFTER 1989.

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
