3,000 K's
3,000 K's
Clayton Kershaw is now at 2,997 and is starting tonight's game vs the White Sox. I guess the question is, will anyone ever do it again? And when Kershaw reaches 3,000 he will join 2 other pitchers as the only ones to reach that mark while pitching for only one team for their career. Can anyone name the other two pitchers?

The Big Train is the other . Tarik Skubal will have about 900 k's by the end of the season , he's 28 . If he stays healthy he has a shot but it doesn't look good for the foreseeable future anyone getting close. Skenes too but like I said the big I word is always there lurking.

Have you ever seen the old b/w vid of Walter and his pitching motion ? It's almost like he was throwing underhand. How many more games would he have won if he wasn't on the lousy Senators team his whole life .
Re: 3,000 K's
Ive thought about what the new "benchmarks" will or should become for pitchers stats now with the changes in baseball over the last 10 years or so.
Is 200 wins the new 300? Is 2000 Ks the new 3000? For the vast majority of the history of baseball, those 2 stats along with ERA defined pitching "greatness". Do they anymore for today's pitchers? How do we as fans/historians re-evaluate statistics as a measure of greatness for pitchers in the modern game? Questions to ponder.....
