New 162-0 game

New 162-0 game

I know you guys know this has been a viral trend, and what's been wild is how many searches have landed on PC looking for a 162-0 option... so, since we already have the data and the engine, why the heck not?

This is obviously a quick v1, but if it gains larger interest, I could see expanding to different modes - I wanted to do something different than the ones that already exist - instead of casino-slot style franchises, this is NO LIMITS - build whatever the heck you want!

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

wow, this is awesome, thanks for doing this

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Thanks, Guy.
First go round 143-19.
Piazza, Gehrig, Hornsby, Ripken, Brett, Musial, Mays (CF), Trout, Ruth (DH)

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

i got 150-12 on my first attempt!

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

great job with the first rollout! a couple of possible future enhancements that might be nice.

- being able to compare a selected player's stats at a position with a player from the search results
- being able to replace a previously selected player at a position

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Wow - I would think with some luck that 160-2 squad could get there...

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Tried a few, but to be honest, on my phone the ads made it tough. I’ll test on computer later where there’s more screen room.

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Loads of fun. 143 is my tops so far. Actually had Mason Miller pitch 65 innings and record 195 K's. That's 3 K's per inning. No batted ball outs.

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

154-8 on my 1st try.

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

My first 3 tries went as follows

143-19
143-19
145-17

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

@yankeebb agree on mobile - I removed the video, can't remove the footer, but I'll condense the player card a bit so those buttons are easier to access.

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

155-7 on the 1st try.

Only got worse from there :(

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

I had the same experience - only lost 4 my 1st try and haven't equaled that since. It's rigged !!

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

My best so far; 156-6

One suggestion I have is it would be nice to reset just 1 player so you don't have to reselect every player every time you want to tweak the lineup.

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Thanks, I will have to look into resetting a single position. I added the stats to the initial player query, and also added some challenge filters - how many wins can you get per franchise and/or decade??

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

I have a question about what part defense plays in this. I went through some game results and noticed players committing errors, but nothing regarding dWAR. Is dWAR used ?

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

155-7 Piazza Helton Hornsby Collins Boggs Ruth Cobb Jackson Williams - not on my first try. tap tap tap

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Yes DWAR is in there in the usual PC manner - should be a fairly easy thing to add to the highlights, I will add that to the TDL.

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

@ krtyler11 - that's the exact lineup I used my 1st try when I went 158-4. I've used it several times since.

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

I went 87-75 (Grade F).

I’m having trouble putting a team together that can get a losing record. Trying to use lovable losers from Twins’ history. This is the closest I’ve come so far. 😂

Correction - just got 84-78. Craig Monroe is just too good. He’s got to go.

Success!!!! I knew my Twins could do it!!!

I went 80-82 (Grade F) in 162-0. Can you build a roster that goes undefeated? https://www.pennantchase.com/baseba..

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Gus I love the effort to go under .500. It's harder than you'd think because players that were really, really bad probably didn't have enough at bats to qualify.

I played in a bizarro fantasy league one year - it was a roto league and you tried to rack up strikeouts, low average, errors, gidp, etc. for hitters and just hoped you're pitchers could give up runs and lose games. All I remember was that Livan Hernandez was the first overall pick because he was an "innings eater" - aka a guy that would stay in and give up 12 hits and 5 runs.

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

And of course Livan was a Twin!! 😂

Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

@GusPC13 - As I should have expected, it was much easier with the Mets. It took me one try to build a loser!

Re: Re: PC hopping on the 162-0 trend

Assembling a losing record is hard.
Figured my beloved White Sox would be no problem.
But went 100-62 with a flyswatter offense:
DH-Scott Fletcher
1B-Mike Squires
2B-Craig Grebeck
SS-Joey Cora
3B-Carlos Martinez
C-Mike Tresh
LF-Buddy Bradford
CF-Alan Bannister
RF-Jerry Hairston

Back to the drawing board.
