1998 Expansion Draft

How it will work is, AFTER 1998 rookie imports, non expansion teams can then protect 20 players maximum-these will be placed on their major league roster.
All players on minor league rosters are then free game for the draft.
No players can be dropped until the expansion draft is over.

One big caveat is only 1 player per team can be drafted, so only one player on the Chicago Cubs minor league roster can be lost to an expansion team. The expansion draft will be 14 rounds long, one pick for each team in a round, and run in 2 phases. The owners of the expansion Diamondbacks and Devil Rays will submit about 20 players IN THE PREFERRED ORDER THEY WANT TO DRAFT THEM for the first part of the draft that is 7 rounds. Then they can re-order as needed and submit up to 14 players for the second part of the draft that is 7 rounds. It is important to remember that the list include ONLY one player from each teams’ minor league. I.e. once a player is drafted from the Cubs, no more players can be drafted from that club.

Please note: Existing teams can protect from 8-10 pitchers and 10-12 hitters to equal 20 players.
Since PC won’t allow an owner to go below 9 and 11 respectively, message me player names and position if you need me to force a player onto your minor and/or major league

The list of available players will be found by visiting each teams roster page, or searching player stats->selecting real stats->selecting minor leagues only

Should either expansion teams roster not be adequately full for all positions after the rookie imports and expansion draft, I will run a short supplemental draft pulling from existing free agents so they can complete their rosters. This would be before everyone else drops players.
Then once the season begins, waivers will run as normal for everyone.

Schedule
4/2 8pm edt-Deadline to complete protected players for all non expansion teams. 20 player maximum on major league roster and must have at least 8-10 pitchers and 10-12 hitters. PLEASE do not adjust rosters after this point. All players in minors are unprotected.
If anyone's team has not completed this, I will move players, and you may not like who I move and make eligible for the draft.

4/5 8pm edt-Deadline for expansion teams to submit first top 20 picks, maximum 1 chosen from each franchise’s minor league roster. If both Expansion owners get me their top 20 list prior to that, time permitting, I will run the 1st 7 rounds early. (14 players will be picked).
The draft will be a "snake" draft.
I have flipped a coin, and the Diamondbacks will pick 1st. Then the Devil Rays get the next 2 players, and so forth

4/7- 8pm edt-Deadline for expansion teams to send remaining 14 picks. This list can only include players from teams who did not lose a player in the first 7 rounds, and can only include one player from each team remaining. Again, if expansion teams get their list to me before the deadline, the expansion draft will be run sooner.
The Devil Rays will pick 1st in this round.
