League Rules
Chuck Connors LeagueCONDUCT: All owners are expected to be active, performing duties of a owner, dropping players, setting lineups, logging in at least weekly. Trash talk is fine, but don't get ugly or disrespectful.
ROSTERS: In-season: 40 man rosters (26/14 in regular season)
Rosters must be at 35 before bidding or the draft,
Owners are allowed to re-sign up to three players per year when contracts run out. This applies only to expiring contracts and not unsigned players on the roster. Any unsigned player may be signed so long as roster limits and team budget are not exceeded.
Zero year players (expiring contracts: $) may be dropped by messaging the commissioner. In addition, owners may request a release on players under contract if they are beyond the season in which they played in real life. The commissioner will determine whether the player enters the pool or is retired.
BUDGETS: Every team has a $150 budget
Keepers: Every team can sign and keep up to 40 players but rosters reduce to 35 each offseason.
Rotation: Four-man rotation
Spring training: no spring training in this league
REGULAR SEASON: 154 games
POST SEASON: The first and second place teams in each league will meet to determine who will play in the World Series.
* Ten game margin rule: If a second place team is 10 or more games behind, they are disqualified from playoff action.
Winners of the American and National leagues will meet in world series.
PROGRESSION/ADVANCEMENT OF CONTRACTS: Will be done after the World Series, any player you want to keep must be signed at this time. Players will be classically progressed until the age of 28, stay the same until 32, and then start to regress at age 33.
Before classic progression, players will be doubled until they meet the following minimums:
200 at bats / 100 innings for starters / 40 innings for relievers
Effective 1961: Owners will have the option to convert any player to the current year's real stats should they wish to do so. This replaced choosing a career stat player. The commissioner reserves the right to adjust stats on stats well beyond parameters due to low innings or at bats. The minimums are 125 at bats, 85 innings for starters and 35 innings for relievers.
IMPORTS: Every team will get players from their next years roster, so long as they are already not in league. The minimums are 125 at bats/35 innings (formerly 50 at bats/25 innings through 1971).
If you have signed a new import who is 25 years of age or less, you may request additional years be added if you signed them for the full ten years. The maximums are listed below:
25 years: up to 11 years
24 years: up to 12 years
23 years: up to 13 years
22 years: up to 14 years
21 years or less: up to 15 years
Effective 1964: Since twenty-one year old starter Bruce Howard imported to the White Sox at 100 rank, per league poll, we decided to use career average stats and normal classic progression. The commission will use discretion when deciding who to apply this rule to. The rule may also be used after a real stat change is made.
FREE AGENT BIDDING: FA bidding will be done in Chat Box with a 24 hour clock on winning a player.
Each season, owners may elect via poll to conduct a draft in lieu of bidding.
Retired players: I endeavor to retire any players if they no longer have progressions or real stat seasons available. Players who played in our prior season will likely remain even if they no longer were playing in real life that following season. That said, owners are permitted to request any player younger than 40 be reactivated from the pool IF they played in real life within three years of the current season. Any player reactivated in this manner must be signed by the owner immediately. [Note: Minnie Minoso will not be retired until the 1980-1981 offseason.]
This is not an expansion league. Players that started with an expansion team will either be placed in the pool or added to the team they played for next in their real career, if any, at the commissioner's discretion. Number of seasons played with a team will factor into the decision.
For 1969, the Expos, Padres, Pilots (Brewers) and Royals join the Angels, Astros, Mets and Senators (Rangers) as teams whose players are considered for the pool. I will continue to monitor carefully when importing players so that we do not at some point (especially with later expansion) have our league's stat levels average well over 90.
NO PICKS OR PROSPECTS IN THIS LEAGUE.
ADDED RULES: I like to keep my rules simple, but will add more if needed.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
