League Rules

Welcome to Money Ball!!

First off,no drama and crap. Trash talk is fine,but don?t be disrespectful.

The concept of this league will be to do as best as you can with your team with a lean salary. The draft will be different and free agency will be VERY different. It should be an interesting challenge. There will be 16 teams consisisting of 2 divisions with 8 teams each.

1)Rosters
Teams will have 40 man rosters(30/10). There will be a max of 20 position players. There will be a max of 14 pitchers. So any combination up to these max?s of 30 for the playing roster.

Teams can have 40 signed players.

2)Team Budget
All teams will have a budget of $100. This will never change.

3)Players
Players will be fictional and have potentials of S,A,C,U. There will be no F potential players.

4)Progressions

Players will progress until age 29 and regress at 34. All players will retire at 40 no matter what!

5)Draft
All drafts will use a random order and then be a ?snake? draft. (Commish will always draft 9th)
Drafts will have 2 rounds. Draft picks can be traded.

The first season draft will have 6 days of 6 rounds to get teams to 36 players.

6)Player Contracts
Players will have set contracts based upon their potential
The following table will be used:

?S? players=$5
?A? players=$4
?C? players=$3
?U? players=$2

Owners must notify the commish when they wish a player signed. When they do so,they also must state the number of years as well.

The max contract length is 10yrs!

Players created for the 2nd season?s draft will be aged 18-22

**contract extensions-->starting after season 3, players are eligible to have their contracted extended for 4 years max if they are on their 1st contract with their current team

7)Free Agency
Since players will have set contract amounts,a different method for bidding on free agents is needed. So here?s what I?ve come up with.

Teams will have a number of ?contacts? each offseason to make to a free agent. The more often they meet with a player,the more likely that player will sign with their team. The team that meets a player the most will get that player to sign with them.

All teams will have 100 contacts each offseason,so use them wisely! Contract length is determined by the owner after signing the player

So during the free agency bidding period,a team will message the commish like this:

SP Joe Smith 1 contact

There will be 2 periods of free agency. Each potential group will have a different amount of time for bidding(see below) If there is a tie on a player,the teams will be given 24hrs to make addtional contacts if they have any available.

Free Agent Bidding Time

?S?/?A? potential players=48hrs
?C?/?U? potential players=36hrs

It is an owners responsibility to make sure they don?t go over budget during free agency. If you do go over,the player you contacted the most will be removed from your team and signed by the next team that contacted them the most. This process will continue until you are at or under budget


100 contacts Tie Breaker.

If 2 or more teams make 100 contacts with a player, the following tie breaker system will be used:

1)owners will message me the # of yrs they will sign the player for

If they each plan to sign the player for the same # of yrs then:

2)each owner must upgrade the player(raise the potential a level). Whichever owner offers to raise the player the highest the player will sign with

If the owners both upgrade the player to S potential then:

3)A coin flip in chat. Each owner must be present at the announced time. The owner who made the 1st 100 contact bid will call the flip. I'll flip the coin and announce the result


8)Season length
The regular season will consist of 147 games. There will be
4 games a day simmed by user sims. Teams will play each divisional team 21 times. All regular season games are played within the division. 1 day off will be granted each day

Pitching rotation will be 5 man staffs. You may use a 4 man staff if you wish,just know that this places extra strain on your SP and will thrust a RP in spot starts!

9)Postseason
The top 4 teams in each division will make the postseason.
Teams will be matched up by record(4th best v best and so on). The winners of each division will face each other in the World Series

All series?will be 7 games.
3 days off will be granted after the end of the regular season
1 day off will be granted each time homefield changes
3 days off will be granted between series

1 series a day will be simmed!!!

10)All Stars
All Stars will be selected by the cpu after all teams have played at least 90 games

11)Mvp/Cy Young
These will be selected by a vote of the owners due by the 2nd day after the World Series. I will put up a list of candidates on the homepage after the regular season for voting.(awarded by cpu starting with season 3)

A player that wins a Mvp or Cy Young may have their contract extended 1 year if the owner wishes.

12)Position Changes
There will not be any position changes

13)Fire/Dwar/slump buster
None of these will be used!!

14)Injuries
Max length is 50 days

15)Trades
Teams will get 20 trades a season. When a draft pick is traded both owners must message the commish.

The trade deadline will be after day 123. There will be a 24hr period of no sims to allow final trades.

Add/drops will be turned off the last 15 games of the season

16)Stadiums
In the offseason,owners may change the RHB/LHB by 1,up or down,on 1 side or the other. Owners must message the commish if they wish to do so.

17)Training
Each offseason,owners may give extra ?training? to 1 player that has A/C/U potential. This training will bump the player up to next potential level. Their contract will be adjusted accordingly. Players can not be older than 25!

As I think of other ideas or something I missed,it will be added/edited
