League Rules
This league is designed to run after the real MLB, and all of the rules are geared to reflect that.Commissioner: Londonians
Budgets: Each team has a budget of $150 to begin. This budget money can be traded if allowed in your previously signed contract budget by contacting the commissioner.
Permanent/Seasonal: Budget money can be traded in two different ways. A permanent budget change with become a new budget level for all future seasons. A seasonal budget change gives cash for only the upcoming season, and will reset to the previous level during the following season. Take care not to overspend on seasonal budget changes, or a significant penalty will be inflicted.
Free Agents: There are no free agents during the first year (and therefore no drops), but after the first season, free agency will be a free-for-all with an appointed date set weeks in advance. However, contracts run high in this league, and it is difficult to sign multiple star plays with the cash allotted which gives weaker teams a chance to rebuild faster.
Draft: There will be two rounds of a Live draft during the offseason with 7 supplemental rounds as well. The early rounds of the draft will be stacked with lots of talent, so trade your picks with care. This will also help with rebuilding owners. Note that all free agents will be added to the live draft (they will not have prospect status).
Stadium Name: You can adjust your team's stadium name by messaging me (team name can not be adjusted). Also, your park's conditions can be renovated before the season begins.
Trades: Trading is encouraged, especially to rebuilding teams. However, if an owner makes a clear attempt to foil the league with a trade, the vote will go to the league and an 80% majority is needed to undo the trade. The trade deadline is after day 125.
Playoff Format: The playoff format is the same as MLB. Top team in each division as well as three wild card teams will compete in the playoffs per league (National and American). Ties will be determined by head-to-head record. If still tied, point difference will be used next.
All-star Game: All-stars will be selected after day 97.
Drops: There are no drops in this league, so be careful who you pick up. The only exception for this rule is during 'Last minute organization needs' if specific roster requirements are not met.
Retire: Players will retire at the age of 40 (exception for the first year in the league, all players will play at least one season).
Contracts: Remember to sign your contracts before the playoffs start. After the playoffs begin, contracts will no longer be accepted, and unsigned players will automatically become free agents the following season.
Prospects: Whenever you draft a player 24 years old or younger, that player will be tagged as a prospect and will remain with your team until reaching the age of 25 (you can sign them to a contract at that age).
Rule 5 Draft: The rule 5 draft helps weaker teams rebuild faster. During the rule 5 draft, the bottom 5 teams (by standings) are allowed to select 1 player from the top 5 teams' minor league system. Keep in mind that each team can only lose 1 player, and each team can only gain 1 player. These draft picks can not be traded.
