League Rules

WELCOME TO GRAND SLAM 2015!(Commish: Wallercrawler74)(vice: yankeebb)

Grand Slam Rule Book: Everything you need to know about this league:

If you are to miss an extended period of time you must message the commish before your leaving and try to at least estimate how long you will be gone.

The League's Laws (note laws can and will be changed and added to):
1st Law: All owners must be active. Failure to be active within a period of 14 days will result in your booting.

2nd Law: All owners must treat each and every owner with adequate respect. Owners however can lose respect but if they do they will probably be booted.

3rd Law: Always try to improve your team. If you do not try to constantly improve your team and outduel another owner in this league you will be booted (you'll be warned at least 3 times.)

4th Law: Any decision made by the commish is final. When the commish is not around the Vice and/or HoBo will be in charge. When the commish comes back and the decisions made by these Positions of Power can be vetoed and reversed.

5th Law: Any decision made by the commish, vice or HoBo (if vice or HoBo the commish agrees with their decision) and is stated CASE CLOSED (One of the positions of power will send out a league message explaining the case, what happened, and the decision. The title will be CASE CLOSED. Once this message is sent out the case if officially closed. Any more talk of the topic will not be accepted and the owner who brings it to topic will bring forth a punishment on himself. There will be time to discuss but once the decision has been made leave the topic alone.

More laws to be added as the league progresses. These are a few outlines for the time.

Section 1: Conduct

This league is for fun and wants competitivness as well. Conduct however is very important in this league. A little swearing here and there won't hurt much and will be allowed as long as it isn't happening 24/7 every time an owner says something. So please let's keep swearing minimal.

Also RESPECT every owner in this league. Don't be disrespectful or mean to anyone in this league whether they deserve it or not, if you feel you have to disrespect them do it via a private message so I do not know about it. However be careful what you say because if that owner you messaged feels you greatly disrespected him he can come to me with that message and you are putting yourself at risk for being booted and banned.

Owners in this league are allowed to complain about W/L outcomes as that adds to the fun of the league. Also Trash talk is allowed and encouraged :) in this league as that's a part of sports and makes the league fun for all!

SECTION 2:Teams and Players

Teams are allowed to have a 40 man organization roster the whole season. During Spring Training a 40 man Major League Roster is allowed. However once the Regular Season has began, a 28 man major, 25 man minor roster will be enforced. Not having a 28 man major league roster by opening day will result in a 1mil dollar penalty per player over. This is how much having correct team rosters matters. Having extra players when other teams can't makes the realism and fun of this league drop, so hey just follow the rules.

Players will be asking for raises in the league but cannot be resigned via pennant chase.

Player Progression happens each offseason after the advancing of contracts. This will make players under 28 yrs of age improve statistically wise (in real stats) or players 32 or above decline statistically wise (in real stats). Players age 29,30,31 will keep the same stats during that time as in the Real Major League players don't regress until about that age but don't constantly improve and get better either.

Players can be change positions every offseason. Please use this with careful consideration and do not ask for an Albert Pujols type player to play SS. Players can change position at any age.
No position player over 28 will have a position change except secondary
the commish has the right to deny any position changes if it's not using common sense.
Also note that errors might be added to a player in position changes for a while if they have never played that position in real life and is "learning" it.

SP to RP conversion- SP must be over 31. (whip will go down, k/9 will go up, bb/9 will down, hits will be divided and then lowered
RP to SP conversion- RP must be a rookie or in 2nd yr. Must be 24 and under years of age. If a real player he must of pitched as a starter at one point in his career whether it be in the majors or minors (whip will go up, k/9 will go down, bb/9 will go up, ip doubled, hits doubled and then will go up

Only 2 changes per offseason.

Boosts:
each season during the offseason (after progressions) a team may request 2 players for boosts:
types of boosts: (MUST BE UNDER 28 YEARS OLD)
Hitters:
energy (CAN NOT EXCEED 162 GAMES)
fielding (CAN NOT EXCEED .985)
speed (CAN NOT EXCEED SPEED OF 8)
Speed-if when player was created and speed was 1-3 then it can go no higher than 4. if when player was created and speed was 4-5 then speed can go no higher than 6. if 6-7 then speed can go no higher than 8.

Pitcher:
stamina (CAN NOT EXCEED 100)

Stadium Renovations:

Each team is allowed to change their stadium (2 per season)
must be done in offseason
1 side- 1change $3 (example: none to mild boost)
1 side- 2 changes $5 (example: none to big boost)
2 sides- 1 change each side $5 ( example: none to mild boosts on both sides)

Section III-Contract Options

If a player has played on your team for 5 consecutive seasons he may be resigned at 2mil more than his expiring contract with a 1mil increase each season. You must msg the commish with the info. I WILL NOT do this for you. This will be the Player option

If a player has not played on ur team for 5 consecutive seasons and u want to resign him it will add 5mil to his expiring contract with a 2mil raise for each additional season. This will be the Team Option

Section IV-Budgets and Contracts

The Budget in the league is set for $175. Cash can be traded so if you join and that is not your budget don't get upset, it's most likely because someone traded it away previously. Max cap is $210

Contracts in this league can be a maximum of 10 years. There will be 40 keepers in the league (players you can sign) and a roster size of 53 players(28 majors, 25 minors). During Free Agent Bidding 1 year rentals can be given out if you only want a guy signed to a 1 year contract (or an expiring contract meaning they will return to Free Agency after 1 year).

***IMPORTANT FYI FOR ROOKIE GM?S: In Pennant chase when a player shows up on a contract page (the immediate page after clicking on your team name from league page, standings or anywhere else for that matter) he?s always on your team one year longer than what the number actually says. I.E Expiring means 1 (or at the end of the current season he?ll be FA), 1 means 2, 2 means 3 and so on and so forth. This is because the contracts on your ?My team page? actually show what your budget is going to be for next year. Odd nuance indeed, but it is what it is it?s a great site in spite of this oddity***

GOING OVER THE BUDGET DURING THE OFFSEASON: During the offseason if your team goes over the 175 mil budget (or whatever your budget is at that time) you will NOT be punished as this is allowed. During the offseason no games are being played so being over the budget does not cause a disadvantage for other owners. However by the end of spring training you must be back under the budget. Spring Training starts the "Season".

GOING OVER THE BUDGET DURING THE SEASON: During the Season(pertains to Regular Season, and playoffs) you will be punished. You must stay under your team's budget during the regular season to keep the league fair for all. Going over the budget during part of the season causes an unfair advantage for you over the other owners in this league. The first time you will be given a warning and 3 days to get under the budget. The second time you will be told, punished 3 mil and will lose the player that caused you to go over the budget. Meaning trades will be reversed if it causes budget problems. The 3rd time is ridiculus and since budget is part of the games strategy you will be booted, end of story.

Setion V-Trading

Trading is allowed in this league. Trading opens after contracts are advanced and closed around day 120. There will be a limit of 20 trades per team

Trading of Draft Picks is allowed in this league. The draft has 3 rounds and you can trade draft picks up to 1 year in the future (the current yr and next yr).

Trading cash is also allowed in this league. To protect teams in the future no team is allowed to trade more than 20mil.

Traded draft picks and cash will be kept record on the Homepage. To avoid a situation of possible lying both owners MUST MESSAGE the commish in order for a trade involving picks or cash to be "officiated". All owners will be allowed a maximum 20 trades in the season which should be plenty enough and if not you are a trading freak ;).

Trades can be vetoed by the League Office at any time in the season or offseason up to 10 days after the trade. This is to make sure the integrity of the league stays strong and 1 owner cannot unfairly take advantage of either a new owner or an owner who doesn't understand player value. If both owners feel the need to have a trade reversed they can reverse it by asking league office. Before you make a trade make sure that the player you acquire does not take you over your budget(unless in offseason) as a player who is signed to a contract traded to your team automatically becomes part of your budget. If a unfair trade is made but the League Office does not have a great idea on the unfairness of it trades can and WILL BE PUT UP TO VOTE FOR THE WHOLE LEAUGE! Trades will not be reversed unless the trade is unfair or a new owner was tricked (whether that trade was fair or not.)

Section VII-Season/Playoffs/All Star Break

The regular season will involve 162 games of baseball. Other parts of the season would include Spring Training which will be 30 games (10 a day over 3 days).


The All Star Break will take place somewhere near have the season has been played.

5 days off (PC days) granted to each team. PC will select ALL-Stars


Playoffs: 5 teams from each division. we will have 3 division winners and 2 wildcard teams.

DIVISIONAL RD: 5 game series



LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP RD: 7 game series. last remaining 2 teams in each league

WORLD SERIES: 7game series (winners of League CHampionship rd

POST SEASON REWARDS:
make playoffs- $2
Win Wildcard- $3
Win Division- $3
Make LCS- $5
World Series Participant- $6
World Series Winner- $8

You can only get one of these rewards.

Section VIII-The Offseason

The offseason is a vital part to the league. Included in the offseason will be the Free Agent Round 1, Rookie Draft, FA bidding Round 2, Contract Resigning's, trading and more. This of course will take place after contracts are advanced and players are progressed and all that good commish stuff.

The Rookie Draft in this league will be very realistic. Please see the Rookie Draft section for more info.

Section IX-Rookie Draft

The rookies stats will be released to the league as soon as possible with it being at least 4 days before the draft is to take place. the draft will be 3 rounds.


*** all rookies and prospects will be tagged. they will have their tags removed at the end of the season if they have reached 150 compiled at bats as a hitter, 25 compiled innings pitched as a reliever or 75 compiled innings pitched as a starter (this is total career not season by season). You do not need to sign rookies or prospects until their tags have been removed. once their tags are removed and they are not resigned they will become free agents**** You will be given ample time to sign them afte rtheir tags are removed

Each team will get one prospect every other season. the prospect must be from your teams organization. the prospect stats will be downgraded to match his age so we don't have a ton studs by the time the are 28.

after a rookie/prospect tagged player turns 28 they will have their tags removed regardless of whether they have reached the threshold or not

Section X-Firing owners

Every offseason each owner will be evaluated. Based off that I will give them grades (NOT TO BE SHARED UNLESS ASKED). To get good grades what I ask is that you are active, try to improve your team and is a quality respectful owner. Failing this test is hard but if you do so you will be fired and booted. Later on you will be allowed to re-join if you become a better owner(I'm not banning you just booting you). Also failing to get your team better over a 2-3 year period of time (meaning no signs of improvement) you will be immediately fired.

Section XI-Free Agent Bidding

There will be 2 rounds of Free Agency. 1 before the Draft and 1 after the draft. Bidding will be blind. Only the top 3 bids will be listed on the 1st update. Those 3 bidders (or 4 if there is a tie) will be allowed to rebid.

Bidders must message the commish with the subject "Bids" and have all bids in the following format. IF the bidders do not have bids in the following format the bids will be ignored and the commish will move on to other bidders.
FORMAT: Name-Position. $$/years/raise (if there is one)/ Total Amount

***In bidding this is one important rule. Bidding is always blind with one update over the 48 hours. Teams who are leading after this update probably won't be leading when the next 24 hours end. Strategic bidders will out bid them if they want that player. So as a bidder, if you are currently leading a player bid again. Bid higher to make the chances of winning that player more likely. If no one bids on that player since the update we will ignore your higher bid and keep the lower bid that was released at the update. So be safe.

Section XII- PLAYER TENDERS

J. PLAYER TENDERS ? player tenders are one of your riskier options as a GM upon a player?s contract expiring along with extensions, and simply releasing the player. You can tender a draft pick (email the league office with the subject tender(s), the full player name, and what round pick you?d like to tender) against that player to get something in return in case you lose him to another team. Obviously if another team signs that player, you are awarded the pick from that team equivalent to the tender. You can not bid less than the max contracts listed below on your own player if you have a tender on him. If another team does not sign that player, you get the player back with a 2 yr contract per details below:
Tender - 1st Round pick is 2M less than highest paid MLB player at that position upon conclusion of that FA period.
2nd Round pick is 4M less than highest paid MLB player at that position upon conclusion of that FA period.
3rd Round pick is 6M less than highest paid MLB player at that position upon conclusion of that FA period.

Max Resulting Contracts per position:
SP/1B - $15M
3B/OF - $13M
SS/2B - $12M
C/RP/DH - $10M

Teams bidding on players that have been tendered a draft pick must have that round draft pick OR higher for the upcoming draft or their bid will be disqualified. So, if a player has a 2nd round tender, in order to bid on him teams must have a current 2nd round pick or 1st round pick. If all they have is a first, that will be the pick given to the team who placed the tender. If all they have is a third they will not be permitted to bid on the tendered player. If a team bids on a free agent that has a 1st round tender and the team has multiple first round picks, the lowest pick (worst pick) will be the pick awarded to the team losing the player.

This league as previously stated is for fun and competitiveness. IF you lack any of this don't join or if you already did quit. Other owners enjoy it when a league is full of competitiveness and fun and don't want to be taken down by a couple owners who just ruin it for others.
