The Elite League Major and Minors Rules and Regulations

As we are in a world that is ever changing, such will this League. We are now moving to a complete General Manager style league where you are able to move players up into the major and at the same time move players down into the minors. I had a very difficult time with players being in the ?minors?, yet they never played a game. How are they going to get better? How do you know if they are going to get better? You didn?t. Therefore, I came up with a solution.

TEAMS
1) Each Manager, or General Manager, will have two teams. They will have their Major League team and their Minor League Affiliate.
2) You can name your team as you like and your affiliate team as well.
3) Each Major League team will have 25 players.
a. Each Minor League Team will have 25 players.
i. The reason that you will have 25 players in the minor leagues is because you will not need as many players. Remember, even though you have this team, you are still trying to compete the best that you can in the Major Leagues.
ii. 25 players will be strictly monitored and enforced. If you go over the limit, the Commissioner?s office (Commish and Vice) reserve the right to bounce one of your players at random. In order for this league to work, this has to be a constant and followed.
4) Each team will be able to trade without restriction with their Minor league team. At this point, I want to see how this works. Just like the MLB, you are able to call someone up and send down whenever you want. If one of your players get hurt, you can send him down f or a rehab assignment (Which is why you have the extra player in the Minor league.)
5) If a player gets hurt, you will not be able to cut him. You will be able to move him to the Minor League team, but not be able to cut him. Again, this will be strictly enforced.

Players

1) After the final game of the Championship series, all players will be progressed one year and the retirement tool will be used. Any players may retire at any time, though usually not until a player is well into their 30s. There will be no advance warning of any player retiring.

? I may tinker with the possibility of bringing players back out of retirement, but I would like to see how this goes.

2) As far as positions go, you may request a position change. If a starting pitcher is in a slump, you may move them to the bullpen and move someone to a starter.

a. You can move a players position (i.e. Albert Pujols 3B-1B) ONLY if the player played that position in their respected career.

b. Any player can be moved to DH. This is a good move especially for a player late in their career.

3) Peak Age:
a. 28 Progression
b. 29-30 No Progression
c. 31 Regression
4) If you have a ?made up? player, you have to keep them on your team until they retire. You cannot cut them.
5) Players that are imported each year will be based in their First full year in the majors, or what is appropriate. They will be automatically starting at 22, unless they came in earlier than that. The minor league system is a perfect way to slowly bring them into the majors.
a. Once we get to 2014 players, or current year players, then there will be made up players, or I will look at the prospects in the minor leagues of real-life baseball players.
b. I will begin to have prospects with this new format. I will send out an email so that you can look through your favorite teams farm system to come up with TWO prospects, no more.
6) The Endurance feature will be used for this league. You can either try to sit players that need ?time-off? or you can have the computer ?auto? sit the players. Choose wisely because the player?s skills do diminish when they are tired.
7) Injury length for a player will be 45 games.

Contracts
1) In this league, there is no budget. Once a player is on your team you have three choices:
a. Release Him
b. Trade Him
c. The player stays in your organization until he retires
2) We do not use the Contract Feature in this league. All players will return your organization for the next season unless you release them, or they retire.

Schedule
1) The Major League season will be 162 games. It will consist of four game series.
a. There will be a 30 game Spring Training
i. 10 Games Day One
ii. 10 Games Day Two
iii. 10 Games Day Three
b. It will be your job to move your players accordingly.
2) The Minor League season will be 120 games with a four team playoff. Once the playoffs are over, the Major League Roster will expand to 29 players.
3) Each Major League Playoff Series will be best of Seven. Minor League will be best of Five.

Draft Rules
1) Draft will be determined by the preceding season?s record: worst to first. Any ties will be determined by head-to-head record first and if teams are still tied, it will go by the difference between Runs For/Runs Against.
2) There will be a 3 round Rookie Draft.
3) Free Agency will open immediately following the end of the Draft.

Expansion Teams
1) Each expansion team will have a clean slate. Each manager will receive a major league team and a minor league team.
2) You will be able to change your team?s name to whatever you wish.
3) If you leave, your teams go back into free agency.

Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
