Post season: Six teams from each league make the playoffs. Top two seeds in each league will get a bye into the LDS. #1 seed will play the winner of the 4/5 matchup and #2 seed will play winner of the 3/6 matchup. Wild Card Series' will be best of five. LDS, LCS and WS will be best of seven. Division winners will always be seeded higher than wild card teams.
UPDATE for 1998: Four teams from each league make the playoffs. Teams will be seeded by their win-loss records, with the American League and National League each having three seeds and one Wild Card. All series will be scheduled for seven games.
The wild card team will automatically be seeded 4th, regardless of record, while the division champions will be seeded 1 to 3.
Home-field advantage will be determined by the regular season record, with the higher seed hosting Games 1–2 and 6-7, and the lower seed hosting Games 3 to 5.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No All Star game. All-Stars will be PC selected after game 80.
Import players: Each team will have players from their next seasons roster imported to their team provided they are already not in league. Imported players must meet the below minimums.
Batters must have at least 150 at bats.
SP must have at least 110 innings pitched.
RP must have at least 30 innings pitched.
Strike adjusted AB/SPIP/RPIP:
1994 105/77/21
1995 133/98/27.
Progression: Basic classic progression, players will progress until age 28,remain the same from 29-32,then start to regress at age 33.
EFFECTIVE prior to 1993 (April 2023): Owners may request real stat changes for the coming season.
TWO PLAYERS maximum per season
MINIMUMS: 400 at bats / 150 innings for starters / 50 innings for relievers
Strike adjusted:
1994 279 at bats/105 innings for starters/35 innings for relievers
1995 356 at bats/133 innings for starters/44 innings for relievers
Advancement of contracts: When advancement of contracts is done, all unsigned players will go into the free agent pool.
Beginning with the 1994-95 offseason, owners may select one franchise hitter AND one franchise pitcher that their team may keep indefinitely. The franchise players must have played at least one season for your team in real life. Any season is acceptable. For example, if the current season is 1989, any season before, after or even 1989 will count.
New owners: New owners have the option of extending and cutting up to 3 contracts.
Zero year ($) players may be dropped at any time by messaging the commissioner.
ANY $$ player on your roster that no longer has real life season's left (current season and beyond) may now be dropped at any time. Send the name(s) and I will delete the contract so that you may drop them.
If you have signed a new import who is 25 years of age or less, you may request additional years be added if you signed them for the full ten years. The maximums are listed below:
25 years: up to 11 years
24 years: up to 12 years
23 years: up to 13 years
22 years: up to 14 years
21 years or less: up to 15 years
If you see this after advancement, you may still make the change but subtract one year from the maximum total (if you plan to max).
Retirement age is 40. Commissioner may make exceptions. In such cases, rank should be above a minimum of 20. Free agent players who are 39 years old and have a rank lower than 20 will also be retired. Players in the pool beyond the real life year they actually played may also be considered for retirement.
FA bidding: Bidding will be done via chat box with a max contract of ten years, no raises or expiring contracts. NO LONGER USED. Bidding has been replaced by a draft as of the 1987-88 offseason.
Originally, we conducted chatbox bidding in this league. This has for the most part been replaced by a draft. However, at times we conduct a poll to see what owners prefer in any given season.
Draft: The first round will be slow with no clock. However, if more than a day passes after their turn begins, owners should not be surprised if we move on to the next team.
The second and third rounds will be run quickly at one scheduled time or on two separate days, 24 hours apart. The draft room will remain open at all times and owners may still pick if their turn comes up outside of the scheduled times.
Once the scheduled time arrives, the commissioner will consult the preranked totals in commissioner tools. Any team not preranked will be skipped. Owners are free to come online during the scheduled time and draft in person if they wish.
If owners feel additional rounds are needed, we can use waivers prior to the season. Players acquired through the draft or waivers do not need to be signed unless an owner plans to keep a player beyond next season's advancement.
Drops will be OFF until the draft completely ends to avoid players being added back to lists after they were dropped.
Prospects: None in this league.
Trades: If players with EXPIRING contracts are traded. The receiving team is allowed to extend the incoming expiring players' contracts up to TWO additional years. Players can only receive this extension once in their career.
Trades will turn off at game 120 and reopen after the World Series.
*changed from "after free agent bidding" to accommodate the traded extension rule. However, the commissioner often forgets to turn them off, lol. In that case, any trades made after game 120 will still be allowed.
Budget: All teams will have a budget of $135 unless a team's budget has been adjusted per the buyout rules below.
Contract Buy-outs: Provided a team has the financial flexibility, an owner may decide to partially or completely buy out a player's contract. If done, the team's budget will be reduced for one year by an amount equal to the buy out. If the contract in question is completely bought out, that player effectively becomes a free agent and is returned to the pool where he can be bid on or signed by any team.
(Rule under consideration for removal)
Position changes: Each offseason, owners can change up to two players main position. Fielders changes must be either swapped with the secondary position or a position they played at their current league age in real life. Their range factor will go down depending on age and position. Pitchers can change from SP to RP after the age of 30. Their H/9 and W/9 will go down and K/9 will go up, as will their WP. Stamina will be either halved or cut into a third. RP to SP can occur at or before the age of 25. Stamina will generally be doubled, while H/9, W/9 will go up and K/9 will go down. CG will be 1.
More rules will be added if needed.
OLD RULES:
Extension rule as of 1988.
You may re-sign up to three zero year ($) players each offseason in addition to the ones allowed under the traded extension rule. Please send the commissioner the names of any $ player once the offseason begins and prior to advancement. Include the number of years you would like to extend the player.
*The 1993-94 offseason will be the last time we allow extensions. At that time, owners may extend any zero-year players on their roster for as long as they wish. This change will not affect traded extensions. Those will continue to be allowed so owners can attempt to get something back for the players they will lose.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
