League Rules

Double Franchise League

1. Basic Pitch: beginning with 1945, league members will draft two teams (1 NL and 1 AL), merge them into one, and receive both teams’ imports going forward.

It is a non-contract league.

Members will have one team in the league, which, again, is comprised of two major league franchises. Your team name will be as follows: city of your American League team and nickname of your National League team, or the reverse. For example, Cleveland Dodgers, or Brooklyn Indians. Either logo is permitted.

2. How are players acquired?

You get all the players on your drafted teams in the beginning year with 35 IP and 100 AB. Going forward, you will also get both team’s imports with 35 IP and 100 AB. Duplicates will be allowed in the first year, but not in ensuing years.

ANY ISSUE ABOUT WHICH TEAM A PLAYER BELONGS ON MUST BE RAISED PRIOR TO THE FIRST GAME, OR THE RIGHT TO APPEAL IS WAIVED. Once a player “suits up” for a game, he belongs to that team.

3. Updating personnel:

Unpredictable progression. 30 - 32 is the plateau.

Trades will be allowed, since we will all be playing with the same season(s).

Anyone can question the fairness of a trade, and forward a review request to the trade review committee. I will select the members of this committee, and majority rules. If for some reason there is a tie (as with an abstention), the Commissioner will break the tie. Requests to have trades reviewed must be made within 1 week or 20 games from the trade, whichever comes first.

Free agents/waivers will exist, in place of a draft. These will run beginning on day 1, so rosters must be at limits (or below) before game 1. The Commissioner is empowered to make those cuts before Game 1, if necessary.

Owners will be allowed 2 stat changes the first year (between the 1945 and 1946 seasons), and 1 per year thereafter. There will be no banking of stat changes.

4. League set up, number of games, rotation size, injury length, and roster size:

There would be 162 games. A 5-man rotation will be used. Injuries will max at 5 for an everyday player, and 8 for a pitcher.

26/36 (26/10) will be the roster size.

5. Playoffs: From the 8 teams, 5 will make the playoffs. The 4 wild card teams will play best-of-3 series until there is 1 Wild Card team left. This team will challenge the regular season winner in the World Series.

Rules about ties for a playoff spot:

If teams tie for a playoff spot:
Tie breakers are 1) Head to head results. 2) Run differential 3) Power ranking; 4) Commissioner’s arbitrary decision.

MY BASIC EXPECTATIONS OF EACH OWNER:

⇒ Actively running your team means that you read messages once per day, meet all deadlines, and communicate any difficulties to the commissioner.

⇒ If you will be away, and unable to get your messages, give the commissioner advance notice. Inactivity for ten (10) days, or repeated failure to meet deadlines, may result in your being booted from the league.

⇒ Every owner is expected to field a team (9 pitchers and 11 fielders) every game. Failure to do so, making the sims not run, results in a forfeit.

⇒ Read and be familiar with the rules immediately upon joining: it may affect your desire to be in the league, or your desire to pick a certain team.

Please keep all conversations clean
Please don't be rude to fellow owners
Please be active, if not active for 14 days you may be removed from the league
We all love baseball and that's why we're here. So Just have fun and enjoy!

General rules:

Each offseason, you can switch a SP to RP, or a RP to a SP, but stamina will remain “as is.”. You can change it back the next offseason if you like, but no changes between first pitch and the last out of the World Series.

You can switch a player’s primary and secondary positions if they played 50% or more games THAT season at their secondary position, or at least 25% of their games for their career at their secondary position.

During an offseason, a player can be switched to the position they played most in their career, regardless of the requirements of General Rule #2.

You can switch a DH to his secondary position, as long as he has a fielding percentage.

Off season duties:

Season 1: double stats

Unpredictable progression after world series. Plateau range: 30 - 32

Imports: You get all the imports from the next season that are not already in the league (35 IP/100 AB minimum)

1 Stat change per season per owner (Note: 2 the first year)

Cuts to a certain roster limit. 26 Major league, 10 minor league.
