League Rules
1974 LEAGUE RULESWhen you join the league, pick one winning team and one non-winning team from the 1974 season. First come, first served. Put the team names in the chat box.
I will import every player that PC will allow for your 2 teams. You HAVE THE OPTION to stat change to any year BEFORE 1974.
No stat changes will be allowed after this initial opportunity. For anybody. Ever.
ANY PLAYER THAT HAS FEWER THAN 100 AB OR 35 IP MUST BE REMOVED!!
4-man rotations this first year, and 5-man rotations thereafter. Injuries will be limited to 3 days this first season, and increased to 8 game maximums for season 2 and beyond.
After each season, classic progression will be used. You will get your imports, provided the player had 100 AB or 35 IP, and the player is not already in the league. There will not be any stat changing. There may be duplicates in the initial season, but not in the subsequent imports. If an imported player played for 2 or more teams, he belongs to the one he played for the most, in terms of AB or IP.
After progressions and imports, you will select the 20 players on your roster you want to keep; the rest go into the free agent pool for the draft. You retain these 20 players by signing them to 1-year contracts. Once the season begins, I will then delete these contracts.
The draft will be based on last season’s records. Each of the 6 rounds will be the reverse of last season’s finish, and the World Champion will draft last.
DRAFT LOTTERY: the worst 8 teams will take part in the draft lottery. Owners will arrange letters A - H in some order, and submit that list to the owner I designate (One NOT involved in the Draft lottery.) That owner will tell me when he has all the lists, and I will determine, and post, which letter and which team has which pick. When that owner (the one coordinating the draft lottery) authenticates that the order was posted, and his email to me with everyone’s choices was NOT opened, I will announce the lottery picks. EVERY YEAR SOME PLAYOFF TEAMS WILL BE IN THE DRAFT LOTTERY. FINISHING LAST DOES NOT GUARANTEE A TOP PICK. PLAY TO WIN!
Waiver claims will run once the season begins
WAR will be used instead of “classic”
During the season, rosters will be 26 major league, and 10 minor league.
Playoffs!: There are 10 teams in each league. 7 teams per league will make the playoffs: 1 first place team, and 6 wild cards. The top 2 wild card teams will get a bye in the PLAY-IN round. In the first round, the other 4 wild card teams play a best-of-3 series. Round 2 is also best-of-3. The Wild Card Finals are best-of-5. The LCS is best-of-7, as is the World Series. The first place team has an automatic bid in the LCS (so this team skips the first 3 rounds).
In each of the first two rounds of the playoffs, the top seeded wild card team in each league has the option to pick his opponent for the round. The owner has to be active and alert; the commissioner reserves the right to start the next round the morning after the regular season concludes, or the morning after the first round ends. Should the regular season or the first round end after 10 pm Costa Rican time on a given evening, the Commissioner will start the next round at noon Costa Rican time on the next day. If the top seed team does not pick an opponent by starting time, the option to choose shall be deemed waived.
This gives most of the owners a chance to make the playoffs and maybe win the Championship, while still giving the best team in each league protection from an early exit, and winning the regular season title will continue to mean something.
Ties: If teams tie for a playoff spot:
⇒ If both teams would be “in”, use head-to-head record as a tiebreaker. 2nd tiebreaker: run differential. 3rd tiebreaker: I will make an arbitrary decision.
⇒ If one is in, the other is out, 1 game playoff (@ head 2 head winner)
No team tied for a playoff berth will be sent home without a chance to play their way into (or play their way out of) a playoff berth.
General Rules:
162 game season. 4-man rotations the first season, and 5-man rotations thereafter.
10) You may not trade players between your own teams.
11) Trades and waivers will be closed after game 140. Trades will be re-opened after the World Series, and waivers will become available the following season, once games start. Sometimes I forget to turn these off (well, most of the time). In this event, I will revert trades and undo waiver claims.
12) A player can have his primary and secondary positions switched if he played half the games in his current season, or 25% of his career games at the desired primary position. A player can be switched to the position he played most in his career even if it is not his primary or secondary position when he was acquired (but only during the offseason). A SP can be switched to RP as needed, but only during the offseason. If a player is listed as primary DH, he can be switched to his secondary position if he has a fielding percentage. ALL SUCH CHANGES CAN ONLY OCCUR DURING THE OFFSEASON.
Expectation of owners:
13) Owners are expected to read messages on a daily basis. The deadline for completing an act will be a minimum of 48 hours from the time of posting. After the 48 hours, it is not a defense for the owner to say that he did not see the message.
14) Every owner is expected to field a team (9 pitchers and 11 fielders) every game. Failure to do so, making the sims not run, results in a forfeit.
15) Teams must be down to roster limits by game 1 (26 ml, 9 minor league). After game 2, the Commissioner will fix any roster not in compliance.
Please keep all conversations clean

Elastic Clause: I reserve the right to add any additional rules necessary to make the league run smoothly.
If you find inconsistencies in the above, or if more things should be added, let me know.
Some leagues use fictional player progression. To learn more about how players progress, check the Player Potential page.
